What are the customs in Zhangzhou?
Spring Festival: The first day of the first lunar month is the most important folk festival. People get up at dawn, set off firecrackers, congratulate each other and pay New Year greetings to each other. On this day, Minnan people generally don't cook new rice for breakfast, but eat "leftovers" on New Year's Eve to get lucky and pray for "more than enough" in the coming year. People in Zhangzhou eat "sweet noodles", commonly known as "longevity noodles", which symbolizes longevity. After getting up on the first day of junior high school, the younger generation should pay New Year greetings to the elders, and the elders should reward the younger generation with "red envelopes", that is, "lucky money". On the second day of the first month, Bingnan people used to "invite their son-in-law" on this day, and many couples took their children back to their parents' homes for reunion. After the founding of New China, the three days of the Spring Festival (from the first day to the third day) were designated as national legal holidays, and the government held group worship and folk garden activities. Every year, Zhangzhou hosts an "Entertainment Spring Garden" to display various commodities, and also presents entertainment programs such as xiang opera and Puppet Show. Tourists gathered in a sea of people.

Lantern Festival: The 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar, known as Shangyuan Festival in history, is also called Lantern Festival. On this day, Minnan people eat "Yuanxiao". At night, there are all kinds of lanterns hanging on Gongfu Street, including chicken lanterns, duck lanterns, goose lanterns, fish lanterns, pumpkin lanterns, gourd lanterns and other fixed lanterns, as well as wind lanterns, horse racing lanterns, Yunlong lanterns, monkey lanterns, snail lanterns and other rotatable lanterns. At the same time, fireworks and dragon and lion dances were also set off. Cao Hua Street in Zhangzhou is a place where lanterns are made, and there are many famous craftsmen. On this night, all newly-married brides will go to the nearby temple to worship Buddha. Those with children will thank the Buddha on this night, and those without children will take this opportunity to plead with the Buddha for their children. After the founding of New China, the Lantern Festival, fireworks, dragon and lion dances and other folk art activities in Zhangzhou became more lively. In recent years, lanterns are concentrated in Zhongshan Park, becoming a "sea of lanterns". All kinds of lanterns are like a hundred flowers blooming and colorful.
