Located on Ziyunling, one of the "Top Ten Scenic Spots" in Jiangxian County, Shanxi Province, it is an ancient Buddhist temple with an organic combination of humanity and nature. It faces Zhongtiao Mountain in the southeast and comes down from Zijin Mountain in the northwest. It is connected to Jiangxian and Yuanqu in the south, Quwo and Houma in the north, Yicheng and Qinshui in the east and Wenxi and Xiaxian in the west, covering an area of more than 200 mu. With superior geographical location, convenient transportation, beautiful environment, pleasant climate and flourishing Buddhism, it is a famous Buddhist holy land in southern Shanxi.

Ziyun Temple has a long history. According to records, it was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty. Every Buddhist festival, there is always a feeling of "purple around" and "Ziyun reflecting the sun", so the temple is named "Ziyun Temple". During the Tang and Song Dynasties, with the expansion of the building scale, boiling water in front of the temple, towering stupas at the top of the temple, incense curling inside the temple, surrounded by pines and cypresses outside the temple, sparse flower forests and quaint and elegant scenery attracted countless good men and women to worship devoutly, which made it spectacular and was known as the "Purple Peak Condensing Show". This plaque still exists today. Zhang Hao, a poet in the Ming Dynasty, once wrote a poem entitled Journey to Ziyun, saying, "Castle Peak is everywhere, the Golden Temple opens the sun and the moon, the dragon and tiger watch the sword, the phoenix platform flutters, the wind blows the flag, and Gui Yue rustles and controls the crane. There is really a dream of traveling to Penglai here, so you don't have to cross the ocean. "
