Compared with grid structure, truss structure can meet the requirements of various architectural forms by omitting the lower chord longitudinal members and spherical joints of grid structure, especially the structure of circular arch and arbitrary curve shape has advantages over grid structure.
From the mechanical characteristics of the grid structure, it can be seen that when the side length ratio is greater than 1.5, its mechanical characteristics change from two-way to one-way, so for most rectangular plane buildings, it is mainly one-way.
Truss structure is similar to plane steel truss and belongs to one-way stress structure. However, due to the increase of the width of the upper chord of the truss, the stability of the upper chord member, which plays a controlling role in the original plane truss, is the same in all directions, saving material consumption. Truss structure is developed on the basis of grid structure, which has its unique advantages and practicability compared with grid structure, and the steel consumption of the structure is also relatively economical.
