Legal basis: Marriage Law for Soldiers Article 1 Servicemen shall abide by the Marriage Law and respect social morality when handling marriage relations, and shall not live together without marriage or have sexual relations outside marriage. The army advocates and encourages late marriage. The first marriage when a male soldier reaches the age of 25 and a female soldier reaches the age of 23 is a late marriage. Eighth active servicemen to apply for marriage, the political organs of units above the regimental level shall be responsible for examination and approval. Officers, civilian cadres, non-commissioned officers and full-time employees of the army who are below battalion level or professional and technical level 10 shall apply for marriage, which shall be examined and approved by the political organs of regimental units; Officers at regimental level, professional and technical level 9 or above and civilian cadres at the same level apply for marriage, which shall be examined and approved by the political organ at the next higher level of their unit; The application for marriage by an officer above the deputy military region shall be examined and approved by the General Political Department. Article 9 Servicemen shall submit a written application to the party organization or political organ of their unit one month in advance, and fill in the Application for Marriage Report Form as filing materials after examination and approval; The certificate of marital status issued by the political organ shall be used as the basis for marriage registration.

Note: The Marriage Law has been abolished by the Civil Code which came into effect on 202 1 1, and the relevant provisions of the Marriage Law shall be implemented according to the Civil Code.
