When you mention Shanghang in Fujian, you may think of Zijin Mining, but you may not know that Shanghang County in western Fujian is an ancient Hakka city with a history of thousands of years.

Shanghang County, Fujian Province speaks Shanghang Hakka dialect.

Shanghang Dialect, also known as Shanghang Hakka Dialect and Shanghang Dialect, is similar to Meizhou Dialect, Huiyang Dialect and Sixian Dialect with Meicheng accent in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, and belongs to a small part of Tingnan, Guangdong Province. In the past, due to the lack of in-depth investigation, Hakka dialects in Tingnan and Tingbei, once represented by Shanghang dialect, were collectively called Tingzhou (that is, Shanghang dialect was regarded as the south of Tingzhou). In fact, the difference between the two films is very big.

Hakka dialect is one of the seven major dialects in China (the other six dialects are Northern Dialect, Wu Dialect, Hunan Dialect, Gan Dialect, Cantonese Dialect and Min Dialect), and it is also the only Chinese dialect that is not named after a region. Hakka dialect is mainly used in Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Hainan, Hongkong and parts of Taiwan Province Province.

As one of the main settlements of Hakka people, Changting, Shanghang, Wuping, Yongding, Liancheng and other counties under the jurisdiction of Longyan City in western Fujian, as well as parts of xinluo district, all speak Hakka dialect.

In Taiwan Province Province, Hakka dialects are mainly distributed in Taoyuan, Zhongli, Hsinchu and Miaoli in the north, and in parts of Pingtung and Kaohsiung in the south. The Hakkas in Taiwan Province Province, together with the people of other nationalities in Taiwan Province Province, have jointly developed the treasure island of the motherland.
