Legend has it that one spring, the visiting Wangs in yuanjiacun, Shandong Province, married the daughter of Cao in Shimiaozhai (now Yongan Office of Laizhou City), Shanxi Province. On the second day after the marriage, the new wife returned to the door, and the groom helped the bride to the donkey, yelling at the animals and rushing to her father-in-law's house. When I walked to Youyou Mountain, I suddenly found a phoenix with gorgeous feathers hovering in the sky, and then landed on the highest hill of Youyou Mountain. I nodded a few times to the east and flew away. The young couple told the villagers about this spectacle. After listening to this, an old man said, "Fengtou faces east, indicating that Laizhou City is a treasure trove of geomantic omen;" Phoenix will not land without treasure. Since it falls on a secluded mountain, it means that there must be a treasure hidden in the mountain. " As soon as people heard this, they immediately took tools and went up the mountain to dig for treasures. I didn't dig the bag, but I dug some smooth and greasy white stones. Some people named this kind of white stone talc, others said that this kind of white stone was just the excrement of some phoenix, and then they threw the dug stone into the wild.
Among the treasure diggers, some ingenious young people saw that these white stones were delicate in texture, moderate in hardness, smooth and transparent, so they took them home to carve, and soon carved some small animals, small flower baskets and vases and sold them for a good price. Only then did people think it was really rare, and seeing that this stone resembled Baoyu in shape, nature and texture, they named it "Laizhou Jade" and the sculpture was called "Laizhou Jade Carving". Laizhou has another name: Phoenix.
