The most common stage form of theater
The most common stage form of the theater is the frame stage.

Frame stage is a kind of stage and the most common one. Its structural feature is that there is a wide rectangular frame at the entrance of the stage, which looks like a picture frame, hence the name. This stage was adopted by Italian theaters in the early16th century, and became popular in many countries in the19th and 20th centuries.

The frame stage has a clear foreground area, called the front of the stage or the entrance of the stage, through which the audience can see the performance. The front of the stage is surrounded by a big curtain, forming a rectangular boundary to separate the stage from the audience. Frame stage is often used in various forms of performances, such as drama, dance, concert and opera. It provides a clear visual boundary and enables the audience to concentrate on the performance on the stage.

Other stage forms

1, Center Stage

Center Stage is in the form of a ring or square stage, and the audience surrounds the stage. In this form, the actors are surrounded by the audience, and the audience can watch the performance from different angles. Center Stage is usually used for experimental theatrical performances, interactive performances and sports events. It creates a more intimate and participatory atmosphere, enabling the audience to feel the performance more personally.

2. Black box stage

The black box stage is a very flexible stage form, usually a closed venue with no fixed seats, and the interior is generally painted black. Its characteristic is that it can be simply arranged and transformed according to different performance needs. The black box stage is suitable for experimental performances, small theater performances, drama workshops and theater education. Because of its flexibility, the distance between the actor and the audience is very close, which can create an intimate and communicative atmosphere.

3. Expansion phase

The extended stage is a stage form with three or more auditoriums. The stage extends from the front of the stage to the audience and is usually rectangular or similar in shape. The extended stage allows the audience to watch the performance from multiple angles and interact more closely with the actors. This stage form is often used in experimental theater performances, drama programs and multicultural performances. It can create an immersive feeling and make the audience more engaged.
