The first self-designed trunk freight locomotive in China. 1956 was successfully trial-produced by Dalian factory in September, and all technical indexes reached the advanced level of steam locomotive. The total length of the locomotive is 26,063mm, the construction speed is 80km, the modulus traction force is 324kN, and the axle type is1-51. It was originally called peaceful type (code name HP), later called progressive type, and now it is code name QJ. Forward locomotives have been produced in small batches in Dalian, Changchun, Mudanjiang, Shenyang, Tangshan and Datong. 1964 Datong factory carried out a series of reforms, which made the maximum power of locomotives reach 2 190 kW, and the total length of locomotives also increased to 29180 mm. 1988 stopped production, and 4,708 locomotives were manufactured. Qianjin steam locomotive is the first high-power trunk freight locomotive designed and manufactured by ourselves in China, code QJ (once called Heping, code HP; Anti-imperialist type, code name FD). 1956 is designed and manufactured by Dalian factory. With the increase of combustion chamber, the height of boiler center is reduced by 80mm, the length of flue pipe is shortened to 5350mm, the ventilation device of flue box is greatly improved, and the performance is also improved. The test shows that when the calculated steam supply is 75 kg/(m2 h) and the speed is 70kmn/h, the maximum power around the wheel can reach 2 192kW, and the total efficiency of the locomotive can reach 8.42%. (5) The coal waterwheel adopts rolling bearings;

The reformed locomotive can achieve a large steam supply rate, increase the superheated steam temperature, reduce the smoke consumption per kWh, and the total efficiency of the locomotive can reach 9.6 1%.

1976, used in the Sino-Soviet border station, designed a wide-gauge forward locomotive with a gauge of1524 mm. On the basis of the original structure, the wheelset weight and axle box liner spacing remained unchanged, the wheelset was widened, the coal-water shaft was lengthened, the bolster and foundation brake were widened accordingly, and the side frame moved outward, so the Soviet coupler was adopted. In order to facilitate shunting operation, prevent cold in winter and improve the working conditions of crew members, front and rear pedals, rear bumper, rear wind horn, coal trough heating and cold-proof windows are installed.
