Dr. Wei Fuquan, a plastic surgeon at Chang Gung Hospital in Linkou, has been engaged in the medical field for 40 years. He is an international authority on micro-plastic surgery and has been one of the top 20 innovative executors in the history of plastic surgery. As a surgeon, he was awarded for the first time as an academician of the Biology Group of the 29th Academia Sinica. He said that the greatest wish now is to promote "allogeneic transplantation" in China, so that more people in need can get treatment and benefit.

Clinical surgical experience has been included in at least 65,438+020 chapters. A few days ago, the National Geographic Channel and the Department of Health of the Executive Yuan jointly filmed the first international documentary "Falling in Love with the Real Taiwan Province Province: the Medical Miracle of Taiwan Province Province", which also specially reported Dr. Wei Fuquan's toe joint transplantation and reconstruction surgery, which attracted international attention.

He led the plastic surgery team of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital to complete 2200 cases of toe transplantation and finger amputation, and restored the hand function of patients. The first fibula flap transplantation saved the health of many patients with oral cancer and tongue cancer. Professor Wei's achievements in plastic surgery and micro-reconstruction medicine are world-famous and proud.

Wei Fuquan was elected as an academician of Academia Sinica in the name of the first surgeon in China. He was very pleased. He said that in the past, medical technology was often not recognized as science, and it seemed that only the research results in the laboratory belonged to science. In fact, if the laboratory results can't be applied to clinic, they can't save the world. On the contrary, the medical technology actually used in clinic can make patients get good treatment and even improve people's lives. At present, it is finally recognized in China that life science research can be transformed into medical technology beneficial to human beings or into products, which is a great breakthrough.

Speaking of his greatest wish in the future, he said that he most wanted to complete "allogeneic transplantation", including changing faces and changing hands. At present, the medical technology is ready, and he is going to apply for human experiments. Even if the application is passed soon, the actual implementation time needs to be reconsidered, mainly because allogeneic transplantation involves many aspects such as medical ethics, psychology, economy and society, especially the "medical ethics" part, which needs further consideration and evaluation.

When it comes to "medical ethics", we should be more cautious. Dr. Wei Fuquan said that because allogeneic transplant patients have to take immunosuppressive drugs for life, there may be rejection and even cancer risk. Because patients with allogeneic transplantation are to improve their appearance, unlike cancer patients who need to take immunosuppressive drugs, they must be carefully considered.
