Where does the flat-topped fragrant plum belong?
Feicheng Prunus mume is a unique and precious resource in Feicheng, and it is one of the rare fruit tree varieties in China. Its cultivation history is over 100 years. Due to historical reasons, in the fruit tree production before and after liberation, fruit tree experts and technicians can only look for variety introductions in the materials, and have never seen the cultivation records. For a long time, the vast number of technicians, experts and professors believe that plum blossom is extinct. In the resource investigation organized by the whole province around 1983, several plum trees were found in Qianzhaizi Village, Anjiazhuang Town. At that time, most technicians and fruit farmers didn't know what this variety was. Appraised by shandong institute of pomology and Shandong Agricultural University, it is a long-lost flat-topped fragrant plum. 1986, plum was introduced and preserved by the National Botanical Garden, and introduced and cultivated all over the country.

Prunus mume is rich in nutrition, bright in color, early in maturity, resistant to storage and transportation, and good in raw food processing. The shape of the fruit is flat-topped and oblate, with an average fruit weight of more than 80 grams and a maximum of 120 grams. It matures in the middle and late July. When fully mature, the face is purplish red, the meat is golden yellow and the fragrance is rich. Mature fruit contains sugar 12%, organic acid 0.34%, tannin 0. 15%, water 90g, protein 0.5g, fat 0.2g, carbohydrate 9g, carotene 0. 16mg, thiamine 0.0 1mg and riboflavin 0.

Prunus mume has strong adaptability, drought resistance, high yield, stable yield and premature delivery. Due to the lack of experience in cultivation and management, the yield and quality of Prunus mume are not ideal for many years. During the period of 1990, Feicheng Fruit Tree Station undertook the project of "Study on High-yield Techniques of Prunus mume" issued by the Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Combined with the biological characteristics of Prunus mume, the techniques of reasonable shaping, optimized pruning, orchard mulching and integrated pest control were studied. By improving soil, rational fertilization, optimizing tree structure and adjusting the relationship between vegetative growth and reproductive growth, the high quality, high yield and standardized management of Pingdingxiang plum were realized. The 500-mu standardized demonstration park in Qianzhaizi Village has achieved the results of 3 young trees, 5 years of high yield and 8 years of full fruit, with an yield of 500-2,000 Jin per mu and a good fruit rate of over 95%. In recent years, the Feicheng Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government have determined the "Detailed Rules for the Development of Plum Blossoms in Pingdingshan". By 2000, the planting area reached 2000 mu, with a total output of 6,543,800 kilograms, which was well received by consumers.
