What is CB certification?
CB system (IEC Electrical Product Qualification Testing and Certification System) is an international system operated by IECEE. The certification bodies of IECEE member countries test the safety performance of electrical products based on IEC standards, and the test results, namely CB test report and CB test certificate, are mutually recognized among IECEE member countries. The purpose is to reduce the international trade barriers caused by the need to meet the certification or approval standards of different countries. IECEE is the abbreviation of the International Electrotechnical Commission's organization for conformity testing and certification of electrical products.

CB (Certification Body) process is based on the international agreement of IECEE "World System of Electrical Product Qualification Testing and Certification". It is an agreement between national certification bodies in the system, which is dedicated to mutual recognition of the audit results of electrical products. Countries participating in the CB system come from designated institutions of 53 countries, including major industrialized countries, and all belong to the CB certification process-it is considered to be the basis of domestic certification in many European Union countries (including countries that have not yet become full members). CB certification is only for sample testing. If foreign certification marks are converted, factory inspection is required.

Development of CB certification

Initially, CB system was initiated by CEE (former European National Committee for Qualification Testing of Electrical Equipment) and was incorporated into IEC in 1985. IECEE CB system is the first truly international mutual recognition system for safety test reports of electrical products. There is a multilateral agreement between national certification bodies (NCBs) in various countries, and manufacturers can obtain the national certification of other member countries of the CB system through CB test certificates issued by NCBs.

The CB system is based on the international IEC standard. If the national standards of some member countries are not completely consistent with IEC standards, national differences are allowed, but they should be announced to other member countries. The CB system uses the CB test certificate to confirm that the product samples have successfully passed the appropriate tests and meet the requirements of relevant IEC and relevant member states. The main goal of CB system is to promote international trade, and its means is to make manufacturers closer to the ideal goal of "one test, multiple applications" by promoting the unified coordination between national standards and international standards and the cooperation of product certification bodies.
