Before 1964, most tire manufacturing enterprises in China were built in coastal cities. With the improvement of national economy, the problem of unreasonable layout of rubber industry has become increasingly prominent. In order to speed up the construction of the rear area, the state decided to build a tire factory in Henan during the third five-year plan period. 19641June14th, the former Ministry of Chemical Industry officially located in Jiaozuo, which is located in Taihang Mountain area and is a new industrial city.

Di Yongkui was born in 1928. At the age of 23, he became the technical deputy director of Hualin Rubber Factory and later the director. He was only 37 years old when he came to Henan. These warm-blooded young people from Northeast China all have a dream: to build the best tire factory in New China.

When the factory is set up, the task is heavy and there are few people. Di Yongkui and his team asked party member cadres, especially leading cadres, to take the lead in manual labor. They build special railway lines, set up power lines, transport sand and gravel, repair dormitories, plant trees and do dirty work. Peng Zhen, the old man at the beginning of the factory and the former chief engineer of Henan Tire Factory, recalled: "At that time, the engineers of the technical department attended the equipment ordering meeting, and the technicians went out to run materials, went through the land purchase procedures and worked as aunts in the nursery. This is very common. That's what we thought at the time. We did what the party asked us to do and promised to finish the task.

The first big problem is the construction of special railway lines. It is difficult to build a 2.5-kilometer railway line in a short time! Take the job of soaking white stubble sleepers with asphalt. Asking others to do it not only costs more money, but also can't guarantee the construction period. Therefore, the preparatory headquarters handed this task to "land reclamation". Everyone is fighting for the construction period day and night. Because the welding time is too long, many people's eyes are burned by arc light and swollen like peaches, but no one gets off the line of fire. After the preliminary work was completed, we began to soak the sleepers. According to Zhang Taichao (later director of Luoyang Rubber Factory), "We put the asphalt on the fire, then tie the sleepers into bundles with steel wires, soak them in hot asphalt and take them out. Unfortunately, the factory began to build and the "Cultural Revolution" began. Some equipment cannot be delivered on time. At that time, the production conditions of the first and second workshops were initially formed, and the vulcanization process was poor. However, if the vulcanizing machine was installed before production, it would take at least three years. Therefore, the preparatory headquarters made a bold decision-using vulcanizing tanks instead of vulcanizing machines and adopting "indigenous production" (using artificial screws instead of high pressure).

1968 65438+February 26th, it was winter, but the vulcanization workshop of Henan Tire Factory was steaming inside and outside. Factory workers, family members, city leaders, leaders of the Second Institute of Chemical Engineering ... people surrounded the whole workshop. 14 o'clock sharp, Zhang Deyi, the monitor on duty, loudly announced: "Out of the pot!" . Since then, the first automobile tire was born in Henan Province and the Central Plains. Suddenly, applause thundered in the workshop.

The "localized production" was successful, and the bumpy Henan Tire Factory took the first step. However, the next road is not smooth. Ten years of catastrophe left Henan tire factory scarred.

Di Yongkui was labeled as a counter-revolutionary. He was criticized during the day and cleaned factories and toilets at night. Like his fate, Zhang Runde, deputy head of the preparatory group, was also labeled as a "traitor". Although Zhang Runde's wife Wang Guie was not criticized, she was assigned the dirtiest and most tiring jobs: cleaning factories, cleaning toilets and pulling carts. Later, Wang Guie was rehabilitated and devoted to the construction of the tire factory; Zhang Runde later became the deputy director of Henan Tire Factory; Di Yongkui was transferred to the factory director during the construction of Dongfeng Tire Factory.

Finally, the Second Automobile Company decided that Henan Tire Factory was its "lifelong companion". Since then, the order volume of No.2 car has increased year by year.
