Bethel Hospital, the predecessor of the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, was established in 192 1. 1952 was renamed Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, and 1964 officially became the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Second Medical University.
