When will asparagus be pruned?
Asparagus is best pruned after Grain Rain (about April 20th). At this time, the weather is really getting warmer, and everything is growing in the peak season. Proper pruning is beneficial to the growth of branches.

Pruning method of asparagus

First, the leaflike branches are missing and pruned. When the small leaflike branches on the main branch are not ideal or missing for some reason, they can be cut short at the appropriate position of the main branch to force the cryptoshoots to germinate. Generally, the height of cutting is the height of leaflike branch germination, and the position where branches are tied is the position where leaflike branches germinate. The greater the thickness of branches, the higher the germination rate of cryptoshoots.

Second, the whole plant is updated and pruned. If the branches and leaves of the whole plant grow poorly due to strong sun burn, dry soil, lack of fertilizer or some unknown reason, the whole plant can be updated. When updating and pruning, you can cut off all the leafy branches, but pay attention to the barbed parts on the branches, because they determine whether the remaining branches are evenly distributed. Pruning in growth period is generally easy to sprout new branches. After pruning, the watering amount should be reduced appropriately, and the pot soil must not be too wet, otherwise it will lead to pruning failure.

Third, the pruning of vines. Shoots are generally fragile and slender. If you don't want to leave seeds, you can cut them off from the roots at one time to make them look good. If you want to increase the number of leaflike branches or fill gaps, you can cut them short at a certain position, and pay special attention to the comprehensive management of small fertilizers when pruning.

Matters needing attention

Pruning asparagus: Dense and leafy asparagus branches are better. However, after three to four years of cultivation, it is no longer suitable for indoor viewing. If the tall vine branches are pulled out and bear fruit, they must be repaired.
