Short cutting number: according to the growth characteristics of hazelnut, it is borne by strong branches and strong buds, and the pruning method is mainly short cutting (hazelnut stubble is actually short cutting). In order to enlarge the crown of young trees, the number of short nodes should be more appropriately. The number of chopped fruit trees is appropriately less. Cut short branches, strong branches and long branches. Leave the key branches with full buds and moderate length as the fruiting mother branches. The annual branches of the whole tree are cut short (30~80% branches are cut off), and the number of short branches generally accounts for about 30% of the total branches.

Sparse branches

Thinning amount: long and thin branches that are too dense should be thinned appropriately according to the situation. Too dense branches affect ventilation and light transmission, and too much thinning will easily lead to a decline in yield. So pay attention to thinning. In general, the thinning amount should not exceed 20% of the total branches. The pruning amount of the whole tree should be controlled at about 30%. ?

Tree shape: There are two main types: single stem shape and cluster shape.

The trunk shape is simple: the tree has a trunk with a height of 40-50 cm, and there are 6-8 main branches distributed on the trunk, each of which is evenly distributed in different directions of the trunk, with lateral branches left on the main branches, and secondary lateral branches and fruiting branches grow on the lateral branches, forming a trunk crown with a height of 3-4 m. In the first year, just after planting in spring, the stem height is 60~ 100cm (30% of the seedling height is cut off). In the second year, three or four main branches in different directions were selected above the trunk, and each main branch and the central trunk were cut short, and the branch length was about 1/3, and the incision was full of external buds. In the third year, 2~3 lateral branches were selected from each main branch, and the lateral branches and extended branches of the main branch were shortened to gradually expand the crown.

Plexus: Usually, 3-4 basic branches extending evenly around are reserved as main branches. There are lateral branches on the main branch, and there are fruiting branches on the lateral branches. The height of the trees is about 3m, so the trees are naturally happy in clusters. The plastic steps are as follows: in the first year, the trunk of seedlings should be cut off again, leaving only about 40cm to promote the development of basic branches. Choose 3~4 main branches in the second year. In the second year, 3~4 main branches have been selected as light and short branches. 2~3 lateral branches are also selected for light and short cutting. After the third year, the extension branches of the selected main side branches will continue to shorten, forming a happy crown. Pay attention to remove sprouted branches in time.
