At present, there are 6 provincial-level clinical key specialties and 3 national-level clinical key specialties (oncology, specialist nursing and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine). Successfully passed JCI international hospital standard certification, becoming the first cancer hospital in China to pass the certification. As the provincial cancer prevention and control center, the provincial radiotherapy quality control center, the provincial cancer chemotherapy quality control center and the cancer prevention and control research center of Hunan University are all affiliated to this hospital. The quality nursing demonstration hospital of the Ministry of Health and the international ostomy school have all settled in the hospital. Related research work has been carried out with Hunan University, Hunan Normal University and National Southern Genome. We have established a friendly hospital with Montpellier Cancer Center in France, and established long-term cooperative relations with many cancer prevention and research institutions such as The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States and Curie Institute in France, so that the level of diagnosis and treatment and medical research in the hospital can keep pace with the world's advanced technology.
With comprehensive treatment as the leading factor, 16 treatment center was established according to diseases, and each disease had an agreed plan, which laid the foundation for standardized treatment. In order to improve the curative effect, while improving the comprehensive treatment methods such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, advanced treatment methods such as tumor plastic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, tissue engineering, biotherapy, radionuclide therapy, molecular targeting, stem cell transplantation, blood vessel transplantation, radiofrequency hyperthermia and interventional therapy have also been carried out. Through treatment, the five-year survival rate of inpatients with 12 common malignant tumors has reached or led the domestic advanced level. The hospital cooperated with relevant parties in Hongkong, and took the lead in developing clinical mental care service and Li Ka-shing Foundation hospice care medical service in China, so as to continuously improve the quality of life of patients with malignant tumors.
The hospital hosted the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy and set up a postdoctoral mobile workstation. There are advanced central laboratories, experimental animal centers, translational medicine research centers and six clinical research and treatment centers (National Esophageal Cancer Clinical Research Sub-center, Provincial Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment Research Center, Provincial Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Research Center, Provincial Tumor Bioimmunotherapy Center, Provincial Tumor Radiotherapy Center and Provincial Thyroid Cancer Treatment Center). Hunan Cancer Plastic Surgery Clinical Medical Technology Research Center has settled in our hospital, and the standardized training bases for tumor residents/specialists, tumor nurses and tumor standardized treatment are affiliated to our hospital.
Over the past 40 years, the hospital has always adhered to the service concept of "people-oriented, patient-centered", and achieved "patients first, social benefits first", providing superb medical technology and quality medical services for cancer patients at relatively low cost, making positive contributions to promoting the high-level development of cancer prevention and treatment in Hunan, and its comprehensive strength ranks in the forefront of similar hospitals in China. In the process of hospital development, the hospital spirit of "fraternity, dedication, realism and pragmatism" has been formed, and the hospital motto of "developing hospitals with one heart and one mind and serving patients wholeheartedly" has been adhered to. Standing at a new historical starting point, the staff of the whole hospital will join hands with people from all walks of life to build Hunan Cancer Hospital and the Cancer Hospital affiliated to Xiangya Medical College of Central South University into international regional cancer prevention and treatment centers with advanced technology, excellent service and first-class management.
