Why did Mencius ask Xunzi to be killed when he was in Qi State?
There is no such thing. Xunzi (about 3 13- 238 BC) was named. Zhao people at the end of the warring States period. In the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Xun, Xuan Di, was also known as Sun Qing. He is also one of the representatives of Confucianism, and was once as famous as Mencius. Xia Ji, a state-run institution of higher learning in Qi State, was twice sent to Qi State, and was named after being located near Jimen, the capital of Qi State, and was the president of Jixia Academy for three times. Gong Xue, Xia Ji is the earliest university in China, and Xunzi is the earliest university president in China. Xunzi believes that human nature is evil: "Today's human nature, born with good interests, obedience, so fight for life, resign from death;" Born with disease and evil, follow it, so thieves are born with loyalty to death; Born with eyes and ears, has a good sense of sound, and is very suitable. Therefore, fornication is naturally polite and liberal, but human nature is evil. "Since human nature is evil, how does goodness come into being? Xunzi said, "Its goodness is also false. "The" pseudo "here is artificial, that is, goodness is not human nature, but artificial, that is," therefore, there must be imitation, courtesy and righteousness, and then out of rebellion, the combination of arts and sciences will rule it. "Man-made" here generally refers to all man-made efforts after the angel's nature has changed, including education and learning. Therefore, Xunzi believes that the function of education is to change the nature of evil and obtain the quality of good. This is different from Mencius. Mencius believes that human nature is good, and bad people do bad things because they lose their nature and abandon it. The function of education is to maintain the good nature and find the lost nature. Although their views are opposite, they have something in common: they all attach importance to the role of education and think that the role of education is to make a person grow from a natural person to a social person in the modern sense. It is in this sense that Xunzi emphasized the importance of education: "I want to be cheap and expensive, stupid and wise, poor and rich, but what?" "Hey: It only learns!" This has the meaning of today's so-called "learning to change fate". Xunzi's educational thoughts are mostly based on the theory of evil nature. Because he thinks that human nature is evil, Xunzi emphasizes the rule of law (which is equivalent to emphasizing discipline in school): "So holly wood must be right first, and dull gold must be strong first, which is profitable. The viciousness of today's people must be the teacher first, and then the righteousness. " In other words, the bent wood must be fumigated and corrected with a shaper before it can be straightened; Metal utensils that are not sharp must be sharpened by grinding. Human nature is evil, which must be corrected by the education of teacher's law, and must be guided by courtesy and righteousness. Xunzi's thought is similar to Aristotle's. Aristotle also believes that some people are despicable in nature and refuse to obey rational leadership, so they must be forced and punished. Therefore, a legal system must be established. From this point of view, the relationship between Confucius, Mencius and Xunzi is quite similar to that of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Socrates and Plato both emphasized "self-control" and "temperance", and it was not until Aristotle that compulsory punishment and legal system were mentioned; Confucius and Mencius emphasized introspection, self-control, self-seeking and self-shame. Although Mencius also found that some people were "shameless", he did not put forward corresponding solutions. It is only in Xunzi's view that he needs the help of the legal system.
