For newly planted young trees, it is mainly to erase the "wild buds" germinated on the rootstock and the buds below the plastic belt of the seedlings. For young trees and early fruit trees, it is mainly to erase the competitive buds near the extension branches of backbone branches at all levels, the overgrowth buds near the incision and some buds with overgrowth tendency on the back.
(2) Choose the heart
In the early stage of shoot growth, core removal can promote the early development of secondary branches, increase the branching order and form more fruiting branches. Generally, when the secondary branch grows to 15 ~ 20 cm, it will be cored.
(3) twist the tip
Dealing with overgrown auxiliary branches and strong branches will promote opening and relaxation. Twisting branches in summer should be carried out from late May to June, when the base has begun to lignify, and the new shoots with excessive growth can be transformed into good fruiting branches after treatment.
(4) Pruning
Cutting new shoots in May-June can not only improve the light condition, but also promote the extraction of two fruiting branches from the lower part. It is better to leave 5 ~ 7 leaves at the base of the short cut length, and large long branches can also be cut off from the base.
These measures have obvious effects on the early formation and promotion of young trees, and play an important role in improving the yield of adult trees and rejuvenating old trees. However, it should be noted that heavy pruning is not suitable in summer during the high temperature period from July to August.
