How to raise potted laurel trees
Sandy soil with deep soil layer, rich water and good drainage is most suitable for laurel conservation. Not drought-tolerant and barren, it grows very slowly in shallow, hardened and barren soil, with few branches and leaves, thin leaves, yellow leaves, no flowers or few flowers, and even periodic dead tops. In severe cases, the whole laurel tree will die.

It likes sunshine, but it has a certain shade tolerance. Young trees need some shade, and adult trees need relatively sufficient light to ensure the normal growth of laurel trees. It has been observed that when one side of laurel crown is close to the wall, or when the crowns of two laurel trees overlap each other, the crown near the wall or the staggered part will soon become sparse, which will affect the shape and beauty of the whole crown.

It can be seen that laurel is suitable for planting in ventilated and light-transmitting places; Yueyuegui likes a clean and ventilated environment, and is intolerant of the harm of smoke and dust, and often cannot blossom after being victimized; Afraid of waterlogging, when waterlogging happens, the roots turn black and rot, the leaves are burnt first, and then the whole leaves wither and fall off, leading to the death of the whole plant. It is not very cold-resistant, but it is still relatively cold-resistant compared with other evergreen broad-leaved trees, which provides rich experience for potted laurel trees in the north.

Cultivation method of laurel:

① Cutting: Hard cutting is carried out in March of spring. The cuttings are selected from the autumn shoots of the previous year, which are 7 ~ 8 cm long and have heels. Insert sand or frog stone into the soil, then close it with plastic arch shed, shade it and keep it moist frequently. The survival rate is about 60%.

Shoots with leaves can be inserted into the bed by automatic spraying and full illumination, or in the growing season. When planting ridges in the open field from June to July, the appropriate depth is 4-6 cm. After pouring enough water, you should shade and moisturize, and only get a little sunshine in the morning and evening. After about 40 days, laurel can take root, and the survival rate is over 90%. Plastic arch shed is used for cold protection in winter, and it is planted separately in the second year.

② Sowing: Collect the seeds in September, dry them in the shade and store them in sand. Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at 50℃ for 2 minutes, then soak them in cold water for 24 hours, then take them out and dry them, which can promote the early germination of laurel seeds. Sowing in spring, the row spacing of drilling is15cm. Cover with 2 cm thick soil and cover with grass. It will germinate and be unearthed in May, and shed for shade in time. In rainy days, the seedlings should be spaced apart, and the spacing between plants should not be too large, which is conducive to shading each other. The height of seedlings in that year can reach about 10 cm. It can be transplanted with soil balls in March-April in spring.

③ Plant division: in spring and autumn. After rameting in spring, laurel should be shaded and moisturized, and rameting in autumn should be cold-proof and heat-insulating.
