What is high temperature yoga?

Simply put, it is to practice yoga in a heated environment. Usually, the ambient temperature of eyelid heating should be controlled between 38-42℃. On the basis of traditional yoga, Bikram Yoga studies 26 movements and arranges them scientifically according to the characteristics of human muscles, ligaments and tendons. Among them, 26 stretching movements include lying, standing and sitting. This group of static movements of twisting, bending and stretching can directly stimulate the nervous and muscular systems and improve the flexibility of the spine, which is especially suitable for office workers to practice. Bikram yoga can not only reduce weight, but also normalize gland activity, so long-term exercise has therapeutic effects on insomnia, migraine, low back pain, cervical spondylosis and gastrointestinal diseases.

Bikram's Yoga was founded by Indian yoga master Bikam Choudhury and his wife, and later spread to Europe and America and became popular.

At the indoor temperature of 42℃, 26 fixed yoga postures were completed within 60 minutes. And such a high temperature depends on volcanic rocks. Because of its high temperature environment, high temperature yoga can achieve faster and better results than normal temperature yoga. However, there are three major side effects in the current ordinary high-temperature yoga room: the air cannot circulate, the air humidity is low, the negative oxygen ions are few, and the free radical content is high, which will lead to side effects. This is because the indoor high temperature environment of 38 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius is artificially created, not in the natural environment.

Authentic indoor high-temperature yoga room overcomes the above shortcomings by using far-infrared light wave high temperature. On the basis of the original light wave sauna room and yoga practice room, far infrared radiation tubes are installed to raise the temperature of the practice room to about 38-42℃. Only in this way can the advantages of yoga, light wave bath and high-temperature sauna be combined to achieve the due effect of high-temperature yoga, and physical therapy and fitness can eliminate sub-health; But people with epilepsy, heart disease, hypertension, bad cold, fever, kidney disease and diabetes are not suitable for high-temperature yoga practice.

"bikram yoga"-Health Risk

Unfortunately, some people in China started a sport called Bikram Yoga. Bikram yoga is that people do yoga exercises in overheated classrooms. Most of these people don't realize that doing any exercise, including yoga, in an overheated environment will lead to serious health problems. As more and more people begin to practice Bikram Yoga in sauna-like classrooms to lose weight and relax muscles, so as to achieve more intense stretching, health experts begin to pay more attention to injuries. Recently, The New York Times published an article. Dr Robert Gotlin, from the Department of Plastic Surgery and Sports Rehabilitation at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, new york, said, "High temperature will increase people's metabolic rate. By warming up, you will be able to stretch more. But once you stretch your muscles more than 20%-25% of their rest length, it will hurt your muscles. " However, overstretching will not only cause muscle damage when practicing Bikram yoga. More serious long-term injuries also involve tendons and ligaments. Teacher Whelan, known as the "mother of yoga" in contemporary China, explained, "What happens in a very hot environment is that your muscles will be warm and you will feel that you can stretch more comfortably than you should. Excessive stretching can damage tendons and ligaments and lead to long-term problems, such as excessive joint osteoporosis. " Everyone agrees that the warmer the muscle, the easier it is to stretch. However, the danger is that because their muscles are too relaxed, they begin to overstretch their ligaments and tendons. This will cause many long-term problems. Teacher Whelan explained, "Muscle is actually your first line of defense. When you stretch beyond the limit, your muscles will cramp. This is your body's defense mechanism, called' stretch reflex', and its function is to remind your body not to stretch to the position where it will cause permanent damage to ligaments and tendons. Ligament injury is much more serious than muscle injury. " Teacher Whelan gave us a strong warning. "Everyone who teaches the so-called Bikram Yoga in China must realize that they have a responsibility to tell their potential students-before class-that their ligaments and tendons are likely to be seriously damaged for a long time. As a result, it will cause pain and even lead to lifelong joint weakness." Orchids also warn us of other problems that Bikram Yoga may cause. "Students should be reminded that doing any strenuous exercise in an overheated environment, including yoga, is harmful to people's health. Bikram yoga can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, heatstroke, thermal spasm and even heart failure. " Doctors warn that it is dangerous to exercise in an environment that exceeds the core temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (about 39.3 degrees Celsius) by 2 to 7 degrees. The New York Times also quoted Dr. Nieca Goldberg, director of the Women's Cardiology Department at Lenox Hill Hospital in new york, as saying: "Overheating will increase circulation, which will lead to stress on the heart, so people with medical diseases should not practice Bikram Yoga." If you have the habit of smoking, or are overweight, or have high blood pressure, then this exercise is not for you. "Dr Goldberg said. In the same article, Catherine Compito, a plastic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at new york Presbyterian Hospital, also said that some practitioners of Bikram Yoga reported "dizziness, nausea, muscle weakness and spasms. Dehydration is the most likely problem. "In extremely serious cases, the loss of electrolyte will lead to arrhythmia. Dehydration occurs when the body loses water faster than it replenishes it. Dehydration is dangerous, but it is very common when practicing Bikram Yoga or doing any exercise in a very hot environment. " Your body can only tolerate so much water loss, "Dr. Gombito said, adding that at high temperatures, the conventional mechanism of restoring the optimal core temperature of the body can't work properly. Evaporation cannot cool the skin. Cold air circulation cannot eliminate the body's heat. Some practitioners like Bikram Yoga because Bikram Yoga enables them to stretch to a greater extent than other yoga practitioners. In other words, driven by the competitive mentality, they are essentially doing sports that are harmful to health. Many, if not all, injuries in yoga practice can be traced back to the competitive mentality of practitioners-for example, trying to make others notice how far they can stretch. "In other sports, competition may be good, but practicing yoga with a competitive attitude is harmful. Yoga will become very dangerous because of this. Yoga practitioners should never focus on how far others can stretch or how others do this exercise. We always advise students to listen to their physical feelings. They should be careful not to stretch or do any exercise beyond their limits. "Unfortunately, when people practice yoga with others, the possibility of competition increases. This is one of the reasons why practicing yoga at home-following TV programs or videos-is safer in some ways than practicing in yoga classes. If you practice yoga at home, you can focus more on yourself and don't try to attract others' attention. " Teacher Huilan explained.
