How to prune the long branches of peach trees?

The pruning of fruit branches with long branches is mainly based on long planting and thinning, and basically not short cutting. In the process of tree transformation, the lower branches are weak. In order to enhance the growth potential, a small number of weak branches can be cut short.

① Retention density of fruiting branches. Keep one bearing branch on the same side of the backbone branch every 2 cm, and the amount of branches left in the whole tree is 5% ~ 6% of that of traditional pruning methods. For varieties with long fruit branches, mu is an illegal unit of measurement, and 1 mu is about 667 square meters.

the remaining branches of congruent plants should be controlled at 4 ~ 6; Varieties with short and medium fruit branches should be controlled within 6 branches per mu.

② Retention length of fruiting branches. For varieties with long fruit branches, fruit branches with a length of 3 ~ 6 cm are mainly reserved, and branches shorter than 3 cm are mostly thinned out in principle. For varieties with short and medium fruit branches (such as August Crispy), the fruit branches with a length of 2 ~ 4 cm are reserved for fruiting, and some branches larger than 4 cm are used for regeneration. Too strong or too weak fruit branches should be left little or no, and some robust short fruit branches and bouquetlike fruit branches can be kept appropriately.

③ the incidence angle of fruiting branches. For varieties with upright tree posture, oblique branches or horizontal branches are mainly reserved, and some back branches can be appropriately reserved on the upper part of the tree. For the varieties with open tree potential, the oblique upper branches are mainly reserved, some horizontal branches can be reserved in the upper part of the tree, and a small number of back upper branches can be reserved in the lower part of the tree. Young trees, especially young trees with upright posture, can leave more horizontal and lower branches.
