Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, founded in 1906, is located in Changsha, a famous Chu-Han city. It is one of the earliest western medicine hospitals in China. It is a third-class first-class general hospital directly under the National Health and Wellness Commission and the affiliated hospital of Central South University directly under the Ministry of Education.

At the beginning of the hospital, the highest standards of European and American medicine were integrated into the concept of running a doctor. The hospital started from an old house in Changsha West Pailou and wrote an important chapter in the history of western medicine development in China.

After the founding of New China, under the leadership of China * * * Production Party, and through the unremitting efforts of several generations of Xiangya people, various undertakings have made great progress, and now it has developed into an important center for clinical diagnosis and treatment, medical education and scientific and technological innovation in China.

There are 3500 beds, with a total construction area of 5 1 000 square meters. There are11clinical medical departments and sub-specialties, 76 wards and10/nursing units. There are 7 national key disciplines and 25 national key clinical specialties. The diagnosis and treatment level and scientific and technological influence of neurology, neurosurgery, dermatology, orthopedics, respiratory medicine, geriatrics and other specialties rank among the top in the country, and it is the national clinical medical research center for geriatrics.
