What are the risks of multi-fingering Do you think it's weird?
Polydactyly refers to the removal of redundant fingers, which should be done in hand-foot surgery or plastic surgery in the hospital. Surgery can choose brachial plexus anesthesia, so there is a risk of anesthesia from the beginning. There may be neurovascular injury during operation, and there may be sequelae such as bleeding, infection, incision dehiscence and scar after operation.

First, multi-finger risk will definitely require multi-finger. However, there are risks in multi-finger surgery, such as anesthetic reaction, postoperative pulmonary infection, surgical bleeding, injury to adjacent tissues, blood vessels, nerves and tendons, postoperative pain, postoperative incision infection, scar hyperplasia of incision, postoperative dysfunction and other sequelae. But doctors will try to avoid the above problems during the operation. Multi-finger surgery usually takes about 10 months, and the structure can be repaired, which is generally not dangerous, but there may be sequelae, such as insufficient deformity correction, repeated surgery in the future, finger dysplasia, joint dysfunction and so on.

Second, how does multi-fingering work? The purpose of polydactyly is to reconstruct the thumb with normal force lines and play its role as much as possible. The ideal condition of thumb reconstruction is that the long axis of the thumb is called a straight line, which can stabilize the joint, balance the muscle strength and form a large enough nail without deformity. The key to reconstruct the thumb shape is to reconstruct or preserve the lateral collateral ligament. According to the different classification of polydactyly, different surgical schemes are adopted. 00-605 scheme determines to keep the dominant thumb and cut off the smaller thumb. If the two thumbs are the same size, keeping the ulnar thumb can keep the ulnar collateral ligament, which is convenient for contralateral pinching. Thumb soft tissue resection can be used to strengthen thumb preservation.

It can be seen from the above that the best treatment time for polydactyly surgery is 3~6 months after birth, and no later than 2 years old. It takes about 1~2 hours to complete the polydactyly operation, and it takes about 3 months to fully recover. Therefore, we must go to a regular hospital for orthopedic treatment, and do a good job of nursing, active anti-inflammatory treatment, prevent infection and inflammation, and avoid touching.
