What kinds of pliers are there?
The pliers mainly consist of a handle, a connecting shaft and a pliers head. When the external force applied to the pliers arm increases with the lever ratio, the force of the pliers mouth produces the external force for clamping and moving. If a large external force is to be generated, the distance between the center of the riveting position of the pliers and the handle must be as long as possible, and the distance between the clamping opening or the shearing opening and the riveting center must be as short as possible.
Generally speaking, pliers can be divided into four types according to their uses. 1. clamp, mainly a clamping and shearing tool. 2. Needle-nosed pliers, also known as repairing pliers, are mainly used for cutting single-stranded and multi-stranded wires with smaller wire diameters, bending single-stranded wire joints, peeling off plastic insulation layers, etc. 3. Wire stripper is mainly used to strip plastic and rubber insulated wires and cable cores. 4. The pipe wrench is mainly used to tighten or loosen the joint or pipe nut on the electrical conduit.
1) wire cutters
Wire cutters are clamping and shearing tools. Wire cutters consist of pliers heads and pliers handles. The pliers head comprises a jaw, a tooth opening, a blade and a chisel opening. The functions of various parts of pliers are as follows: ① The tooth opening can be used to tighten or loosen nuts; ② Knife edge can be used to cut rubber or plastic insulation layer of flexible cord, and can also be used to cut wires and iron wires; (3) Chisels can be used to cut hard metal wires such as wires and steel wires; (4) The insulated plastic pipe of the pliers can withstand a voltage of more than 500 volts,
With it, you can cut the wires with electricity. When using, don't throw it about. So as not to damage the insulated plastic pipe. The wire cutters commonly used by electricians are 150mm, 175mm, 200mm and 250mm. 2) Needle-nose pliers
Needle-nosed pliers, also known as trimming pliers, are mainly used for cutting single-stranded and multi-stranded wires with smaller wire diameters, bending wire joints of single-stranded needle-nosed pliers, and stripping plastic insulation. It is also one of the tools commonly used by electricians (especially internal electricians). It consists of a tip, a knife edge and a pliers handle. The handle of electric needle-nosed pliers is sheathed with an insulating sleeve with a rated voltage of 500 volts. Needle-nosed pliers are used in narrow spaces because of their sharp heads. The operation method of bending the wire connector with needle-nosed pliers is: first bend the end of the wire to the left, and then bend it clockwise next to the screw.
3) Stripping pliers
Wire stripper is one of the tools commonly used by internal electricians, motor maintenance workers and instrument electricians. Its shape is shown in the figure below. It consists of a knife edge, a thread pressing port and a pliers handle. The handle of the wire stripper is sheathed with an insulating sleeve with a rated working voltage of 500 V. Wire stripper is suitable for stripping plastic and rubber insulated wires and cable cores. The use method is: put the wire to be peeled on the cutting edge of the pliers head, hold the two pliers handles by hand, and then release them, so that the insulation skin will be separated from the core wire.
4) Pipe wrench
Used to tighten or loosen the joint or pipe nut on the conduit, and the use method is the same as that of adjustable wrench.
Precautions for using pliers
(1) In general, the strength of pliers is limited, and it can't be used to operate jobs that ordinary hands can't reach. In particular, small or ordinary needle-nosed pliers will damage the jaws when used to bend high-strength laths.
② The general wire cutters have three cutting edges, which can only be used for thread cutting, but not for thread cutting.
(3) The pliers handle can only be held by hand, and no force can be applied by other methods.
