International Ophthalmologist Examination: International Ophthalmologist Examination is helpful to improve the overall level of ophthalmology in China, promote continuing education in ophthalmology, and accelerate the integration of ophthalmology in China with the international community. The International Ophthalmology Federation is the administrative body of the International Federation of Ophthalmology Societies. The office of the Examination Committee of the International Ophthalmology Society is located in Cambridge University, UK, and its official examination institution in China is the National Medical Examination Center. At present, the international ophthalmology examination is divided into two parts-the basic knowledge examination and the clinical knowledge examination. China held the basic knowledge examination in 2005 and the clinical knowledge examination for the first time in 2007. Candidates were collected and sorted by domestic on-the-job ophthalmologists. Only after passing the basic knowledge examination can you take the clinical knowledge examination.
Exams are usually held once a year in March or April. The exam questions are currently available in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish, and candidates can take the exam in their own countries. The Examination Committee of the International Ophthalmology Council is responsible for the examination questions, which are sent to the candidate's country before the examination.
Candidates who pass the exam will receive the internationally recognized unified certificate issued by I.C.O, and will be recommended by the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, giving priority to applying for the scholarship of the International Ophthalmology Association. Ophthalmology Branch of Chinese Medical Association formally joined the International Union of Ophthalmology Societies in 2002.
