How to prune epiphyllum? Pruning methods and matters needing attention
Because the epiphyllum stem is extremely soft and long, it should be supported by scaffolding in time and can be tied into triumphant or other shapes. When the temperature is low in late autumn and early winter, if slender stems grow at the top, they should be cut off in time.

Four seasons management

(1) Suitable for balconies facing east, south and west in spring.

Changing pots in spring when the temperature is stable above 15℃ can also be done at 9 ~ 10. Young epiphyllum plants change pots 1 time every year, and adult plants generally change pots 1 time every 2 to 3 years. Stop watering before transplanting and let the soil in the pot dry before taking off the pot. After taking off the pot, put it in the shade to dry 1~2 days, and plant it after the wound is dry. It is best to use slightly acidic sandy loam with rich humus, good drainage and loose fertility. Put the basin in a semi-shady place, don't water it for the time being, and water it slightly after 2~3 days to keep the soil dry and not too wet.

After the temperature rises in spring, epiphyllum begins to grow again, so it is necessary to keep enough light and gradually increase the amount of watering. Spring is the peak season for epiphyllum growth, so we should pay attention to the supply of water and fertilizer, but the soil should not be too wet. In rainy days, you should reduce the number of watering. Epiphyllum should be moved to a semi-shady place in late spring. Because epiphyllum likes acidic soil, when the soil acidity is insufficient, its leaves will turn yellow. If the leaves turn yellow during growth, 1 500 times ferrous sulfate should be applied as topdressing, which can change the leaf color.

(2) In summer, it is suitable to decorate the balconies in the east, south, west and north dynasties.

Epiphyllum is resistant to high temperature, but not to sunlight. When the temperature is hot in summer, it should be arranged in a place with light or bright light in the morning and evening to prevent the flat stem from yellowing and shrinking. Adequate water supply should be maintained in summer. Generally, it should be watered 1 time within 2 days and properly fertilized.

(3) Balcony facing east, south and west in autumn.

Epiphyllum should be cultivated in a semi-shady place in early autumn. The temperature is cool, so you can move the epiphyllum to a sunny place. Stop fertilizing, it is best to see the soil dry before watering. When the weather is getting colder, the watering amount can be gradually reduced to dry the basin soil until its growth stagnates. When the temperature drops to about 5℃, pay attention to heat preservation.

(4) Winter is suitable for balconies on the east, south and west sides.

Epiphyllum is not hardy, and the temperature should be kept above 5℃ in winter. Should be arranged in a place with sufficient light, pay attention to water control, so that the soil in the basin is dry and not fertilized. When the temperature is always above 10℃, Epiphyllum can grow slowly. At this time, the soil should be properly watered after drying without fertilization.
