"Yiyuan ape-man" is the earliest Shandong people and the earliest ancient human in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. The discovery of "Yiyuan ape-man" is another great achievement in the history of ancient human archaeology in China, and such a precious excavation achievement is the first time in Shandong Province.
According to the age of ancient human evolution in China, it belongs to the fifth region, and according to its distribution, it belongs to District 9, which fills a gap in the geographical distribution of apes in China and is of great significance to the study of the distribution of Quaternary mammals, paleogeography, paleoclimate and Dongyi culture.

A skull was unearthed for the first time in Yiyuan ape-man site, and then six teeth, a humerus, a rib, a femur and two brow bones were unearthed. Along with the unearthed bones, there are also common animal bones in the Middle Pleistocene, such as swollen deer, Lee's wild boar, giant raccoon, tiger and hyena. The identified skull includes most parietal bones, some occipital bones and frontal bones.
Experts identified it as two ape-man individuals. Later, after excavation, two fossils of ape-man teeth were found, which were consistent with the first discovery of ape-man teeth. The discovery of the "Yiyuan ape-man" fossil is another great achievement of ancient human archaeology in China.
