The hospital has a long history and profound foundation. Its predecessor was/kloc-0, the Central Hospital of the National Government founded in 1929, and/kloc-0 moved to Chongqing in 1939. 1945, the urban outpatient department of the Central Hospital of the National Government was established in Xuetianwan. 1947, the out-patient department was moved to the present site and renamed as Chongqing Branch of the Central Hospital of the National Government. 1955 was officially named Chongqing Third People's Hospital.
