1, soil preparation
Double-petalled sunflower has strong adaptability to growth and does not need much soil. But in order to make the flower more lush and fragrant, we should prepare a loose and fertile sandy soil for it as much as possible, which can be prepared with peat soil, garden soil and sandy soil, and add some fermented bean dregs as base fertilizer to enhance soil nutrition.
Step 2 sow seeds
The sowing time of double-season sunflower is April and May every year, and the temperature and humidity at this time are very suitable for the growth of sunflower. Spread sunflower seeds evenly on the surface of the pot soil, then cover it with a thin layer of soil, and then water it to ensure that the soil is soaked. After sowing, about three or four days later, you can see the seedlings break through the ground.
Step 3 raise seedlings
Sunflower seedlings are very delicate. It's summer, the temperature is high and the light is strong, so we must take good care of them. Water the seedlings in time to cool down, but don't water them too much. The root system of seedlings is not fully developed, and too much water will lead to root rot. Put the potted plants in a cool and ventilated place, and pay attention to shade when the light is too strong during the day.
prune
Sunflower is an ornamental plant, which needs pruning in time in order to bloom more and increase its beauty. At seedling stage, topping and coring should be done, and the head of the main stem should be cut off. After flowering, we should trim the side branches and properly cut off the withered branches and leaves, which can not only keep the appearance, but also avoid the side branches and main stems from grabbing nutrients. Remember to put them in the shade for a few days after pruning.
