Pruning potted Chinese rose flowers is an important technical measure. Especially for cutting rose, pruning in the late growth stage is more important. Because the natural flowering period of Chinese rose is relatively long, from May to early November, it blooms every month.
In this long time, in order to make the Chinese rose blossom continuously, it is necessary to trim the branches to make the Chinese rose plant beautiful, well ventilated and transparent, reduce the intrusion of pests and diseases, and replace the new branches in time, so as to promote the Chinese rose plant to flourish.
1. During the growth period of cutting rose, the inward-growing flower buds and over-dense young buds should be pruned in time to balance the flower potential. For non-flowering varieties, when there are many buds at the top, only one main bud is kept, and other remaining buds are pruned.
2. The rose buds are formed on the new branches of that year. Therefore, you can't cut new branches after they grow in spring. Pruning should be carried out after each flowering to promote the early growth of new branches and the second flowering of Chinese rose.
3. In order to prevent the flowering part of the rose from moving up year by year, which will affect the appearance of the plant, when cutting off the residual flowers and leaves, it should be cut off from the first compound leaf under the flower and keep the second compound leaf, so that new flower buds can be drawn out from its axils.
4. The cuttings of Chinese rose seedlings should also be trimmed moderately. The purpose is to promote the growth of plants, lay a good foundation for future growth and development, and grow into a plump plant shape quickly. After the seedlings survive cutting and are planted in pots, they usually sprout 1 ~ 2 new branches from the upper part first. Some branches start to bud and blossom when they are not long, but the flowers are too small to form. This will consume nutrients, which is not conducive to the growth of Chinese roses. Therefore, when the young buds grow to the size of beans, they should be pruned together with 1-2 leaves under the buds.
5. When a new branch without pregnant buds grows 7-8 leaves, the heart point can be removed to promote the growth and enrichment of the new branch, and the second branch can be continued. Except for the leaves on the main branch, the lateral branch buds should be completely erased, so that the branches and leaves of the seedlings can be strong, and the strong base buds will gradually sprout from the base of the seedlings or the pot soil, and will quickly develop into branches. These native branches grow vigorously and will become the main branches in the next year. They not only have strong branches, but also blossom abundantly, which can fully reflect the characteristics of Chinese rose varieties.
