I believe there are many friends who grew up in the countryside like me. They often run in the mountains, feel the breath of the wind, feel the impact of the river, and feel the charm of nature in the fields. As we all know, there are weeds everywhere in the countryside, and many of these various weeds have good effects, which will never be out of date, whether before or now. As far as I know, there is a kind of weed, whose appearance is very inconspicuous, which will produce many purple flowers and excrete toxins from the body. This weed is Viola yedoensis.
Viola yedoensis, also known as Viola glabra, Viola, Hedyotis diffusa, Crotalaria japonica and Crotalaria gigantea, is a perennial herb. The plant itself is extremely short, only 4 ~ 14 cm high and no more than 20 cm at most. Its rhizome is very slender, its surface is light brown, and it stands upright. It is rare to see creeping or sloping plants, but they look a little energetic. Leaves grow at the base of the rhizome and spread around in a rosette shape. The leaves in the lower half are usually smaller, with three ovals or narrow ovals. The leaves near the top are long, round, long and narrow, oval, lanceolate or oblong. The surface of the leaves on the whole plant is smooth and hairless, and only the edges have flat round teeth. Every April or so, it will produce many purple florets in pieces. These florets live at the top of plants and look extremely noble against the green leaves. Therefore, the status of a flower is not determined by its size.
Viola yedoensis is found in almost every corner of China, whether in the south or the north, mainly in Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Taiwan Province, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu and other places. It likes to grow in a humid environment, which can withstand both shade and cold, but it doesn't like direct sunlight. As long as the temperature in the air is slightly too high, plants will be withered by the sun, so they usually grow in some shady places, such as forest edges, bushes, fields, wasteland, rivers and so on.
Viola yedoensis can be found in every corner of the countryside. I believe many friends have seen it, but they just don't know its function. Generally speaking, Viola yedoensis has edible value, medicinal value and ornamental value.
First of all, Viola yedoensis is very rich in nutrition, containing a lot of amino acids, protein and various trace elements. Eating more at ordinary times will only be good for your health, and the eating method is particularly simple. The most common ones are cooking, cooking noodles and scalding hot pot.
Secondly, the whole grass is used as medicine. It has purple flowers, but potted plants are very beautiful. Now it is very valuable. Don't ignore it. The Compendium of Materia Medica records that Viola yedoensis has the functions of clearing away heat and toxic materials, cooling blood and reducing swelling, and clearing away heat and promoting diuresis. It is often used to treat poisonous snake bites, dysentery, diarrhea, carbuncle swelling, damp-heat, redness and swelling of the eyes, but it should be used with caution for those with deficiency of the spleen and stomach, because the plant itself is a cold medicine.
Finally, the reproductive ability of Viola yedoensis is extremely strong. As long as there are a few plants, there will be a large area before long, and its flowering period is particularly long. It is often used as green grass. A friend saw its beautiful color and transplanted it to a potted plant at home. In fact, it has many functions!
Guys, have you seen Viola yedoensis?
