According to the * * * agreement between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, the Implementation Opinions of Peking Union Medical College and Tsinghua University on Implementing the Two Agreements, the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Renaming Peking Union Medical College and the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Provisional Regulations on the Registration Management of Institutions of the National Registration Administration, Peking Union Medical College was officially renamed. In view of the need of close cooperation between our school and Tsinghua University, we also use the name "Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Health Science Department". After the name change, our school is still an independent legal entity, and the original affiliation, staffing, asset relationship and fund management system remain unchanged.
The renamed name and corresponding seal have been put into use since May, 2007 18.
After reading the announcement, the rumors on the internet broke down and the truth of the matter could not be concealed.
The news that Peking Union Medical College of Tsinghua University will merge with Tsinghua University and be renamed Peking Union Medical College of Tsinghua University or Tsinghua University Medical Department has been misinformed for a long time (the source of the rumor will be given later). You can often see such news on the internet, which makes people mistakenly think that the two schools have merged. But in fact, it is only a "joint training" project jointly organized by two universities: 8-year clinical medicine. First two and a half years in Tsinghua, then in Concord.
In order to give people the illusion that Concord has merged into Tsinghua, Tsinghua came up with an idea that Concord should be renamed Peking Union Medical College of Tsinghua University or Tsinghua University Medical Department, which met with strong opposition from Concord. Later, Tsinghua gave an idea to call Peking Union Medical College (Tsinghua University Medical Department), but some people objected. Later, it was changed to Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Medical Department. But Concord calls itself Peking Concord on any occasion, and so does official website. It only uses the name of "Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Health Science Department" when receiving funding from Tsinghua. At present, the name "Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Medical College" is used in the documents of the Ministry of Education (convenient for receiving funding), and the name "Peking Union Medical College" is used in the documents of the Ministry of Health.
Therefore, Tsinghua University Medical College is simply an empty brand, and there is no such thing in official website of two universities. According to the cooperation agreement between Tsinghua and Xiehe (see appendix below), Tsinghua originally stopped setting up another medical school, but in order to prevent the 30 1 tragedy (described later) from happening again, Tsinghua left one hand behind and is still developing and expanding the Tsinghua University Medical College, just to avoid the breakdown of cooperation with Xiehe in the future, so as to avoid drawing water with a sieve. Tsinghua also opposed the cancellation of the establishment of Tsinghua Medical College.
Next, let's talk about how the pre-medical course of Concord University was transferred from Peking University to Tsinghua. In 2000, Beijing Medical University was merged into Peking University, which was a "return" from a historical perspective. Judging from the reality, both sides have achieved "mutual benefit and win-win". As far as I know, students of Beijing Medical University prefer to claim to be from Peking University rather than Beijing Medical University. Since then, Peking University has swaggered into a "world-class university". At this moment, the most embarrassing thing is the two schools in Beijing, one is Tsinghua and the other is Concord. Tsinghua of Peking University has been arguing about who is "the first in China", and Concord has always disdained to compare with Beijing Medical University. That's great. Peking University and Beijing Medical University have come together to form a strong alliance, which is a psychological blow to Tsinghua and Concord. (Tsinghua University is looking for Union Medical College for the first time, hoping to merge. However, because Concord is a central health care hospital, Vice Premier Li Lanqing, who is in charge of culture, education and health in the State Council, proposed that it should be carefully considered. In addition, there are differences within Tsinghua, and the first negotiation fell through.
Tsinghua needs to "fight back" when Peking University is striding towards "a world-class university". Tsinghua needs money, people and policies. What is the most lacking? It's just a medical school. However, as we all know, it is not easy to build a medical college. Tsinghua's biology department simply can't rank in China (it may be at that time, but now it seems to be in the top five, and Peking University's biology department naturally ranks 1), without the support of clinical hospitals. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to build a medical school that can match Tsinghua's "quasi-world-class" status. However, Peking University already has a medical school, and it is urgent to establish Tsinghua's own medical school. Without conditions, conditions can be created! No matter how bad the biology department is, how can you live up to the "golden signboard" of Tsinghua if you spend money on it? What Tsinghua is most worried about is that there is no decent hospital. The better big hospitals in Beijing are all divided up by Union Medical College, Beijing Medical University and the first visit, and you don't participate at all. What's left is a military hospital of its own. Tsinghua is targeting the PLA General Hospital, which is also known as 30 1.
We don't know the details of the cooperation between Tsinghua and 30 1. But as you can imagine, with Tsinghua's ability, it is very easy to promote this kind of cooperation through high-level operation ("cooperation" rather than "merger"). It is said that 30 1 went during the negotiation 12). Therefore, under the attention of all, Tsinghua Medical College was born around 200 1 and made a high-profile appearance.
Let's talk about Concord. The medical education that Xiehe often says is "small but fine" elite education, as small as the whole campus is only half the size of a crowded basketball court in Wang Fu. Concord has also been trying to squeeze into Dongdan, a place with "an inch of land and an inch of gold" (a true portrayal of "being hidden in the city"), which cannot be expanded in space. So-called: Concorde has no campus. ...
Earlier, I got a piece of land at the Eighth National Congress in the western suburbs, intending to build a new Concord here, but it was opposed by most Concord people. We had to put the newly-built plastic surgery hospital over there and move the nursing college here. Later, it was said that during the period of 1994, Capital Medical University was also preparing to merge into Concord. The plan has been approved by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Beijing, and even the venue for the merger celebration ceremony has been arranged. However, it is a group of old concord people, with the power of "reaching the sky", who jointly wrote a letter and unanimously opposed the merger with Shouyi and other "third-rate colleges". As a result, Vice Premier Li Lanqing, who was in charge of education, science, culture and health at that time, personally instructed to suspend the merger, and the matter was "aborted" again.
After the reform of government institutions from 65438 to 0998, all medical colleges under the Ministry of Health were placed under the local government or merged with other colleges. However, at this time, the Ministry of Health has no funds for scientific research and education, and the life of Concord is even more sad. What's even more embarrassing is that Concord has never been shortlisted for the "2 1 1 project", earning both fame and fortune.
The official explanation of Concord University is that the campus hardware facilities are not up to standard (only half of the basketball court mentioned above), and the number of students is too small to become a scale (self-proclaimed "small but fine"). Seeing that Beijing Medical University is merged into Peking University, the funds are "rushing". What should Concord do with the golden rice bowl? At present, it seems that the comprehensive strength of Beijing Medical University has surpassed Concord, and it has surpassed it in all directions.
Just when Concord was eager to see its "savior", the cooperation between Tsinghua and 30 1 had broken down. What about the students in Tsinghua Medical College who are about to transfer to medical courses? ! Tsinghua was blindsided, and it was difficult to ride a tiger. The first doctor must be disdainful. Peking University is stealing happiness and leaving Concord. So there was the second negotiation between Tsinghua and Sheikh University (the fuse was that hundreds of people in the eight-year program of Beijing Medical University would go to Peking University for two years of basic courses, and the laboratory arrangement and student dormitory of Peking University were extremely nervous. Peking University found it difficult to continue taking basic courses for Concord. Another reason for the negotiations is that the above-mentioned Concordia is not included in the 2 1 1 and 985 projects, and the state has invested very little. With the so-called close cooperation with Tsinghua, Concord can be included in the 2 1 1 and 985 projects). At this moment, a concord, a Tsinghua, also don't know who chase who, anyway, it is hit it off. Each has its own way, which is really "strange bedfellows". By the way, Nankai University recently signed a cooperation agreement with 30 1, and students of Nankai Medical College will enter 30 1 internship. I don't understand why 30 1 should be "separated" from Tsinghua. It is speculated that Tsinghua's engineering background is not suitable for basic medical education (mainly chemistry and physiology), and Tsinghua's humanistic atmosphere is not good, and science is not good either. 30 1 Afraid that the quality of medical students trained in Tsinghua is not good, cooperation will ruin the brand of 30 1, so 30 1 found another comprehensive university in Beijing and Tianjin-Nankai University (Tsinghua's chemistry has not yet entered the top of the country).
After that, Tsinghua began negotiations with Concord until a cooperation agreement was reached in 2006 (see appendix below). The beginning of the cooperation between Concord and Tsinghua means the end of the cooperation between Concord and Peking University, and the eight-year system of Concord is the most affected. Emotionally speaking, the cooperation between Concord and Peking University has a history of several decades. When Concord was founded, the medical plan was completed in yenching university. After Yanda was merged into Peking University, Peking University inherited this "tradition". Although Peking University began to enroll eight-year programs after the merger of Beijing Medical University and had its own pre-medical classes, the relationship with Concord was still very friendly (at least in the short term). More importantly, the strength of the Biology Department of Peking University is far stronger than that of Tsinghua University, and the comprehensive resources are more advantageous than the engineering background of Tsinghua. I wonder how Tsinghua reacted. Anyway, many Concorde people don't want to give up Peking University and transfer to Tsinghua. As a result, the leaders have repeatedly done their work, "moving with emotion and knowing with courtesy." But the most important thing is that this plan has certainly won the approval of the "Tian Tong" figures.
So far, Concord and Tsinghua are just called "cooperation", not "merger". All the eight-year medical students previously enrolled in Tsinghua were transferred to Concord University. Concord's 8-year program was included in Tsinghua's enrollment plan, and its pre-medical stage was transferred to Tsinghua for training.
Since then, Tsinghua "naturally" forcibly added the materials of Concord into his own publicity materials, and hyped that "Concord is a college in Tsinghua" (this should be the source of online rumors), and put all the academicians of Concord in his own name, only to find that there are still not as many as Peking University. Of course, Concordia protested strongly. It just co-organized a joint training project with you in Tsinghua, and there was no merger at all. Why do academicians blame you, Tsinghua? The folk drama Concordia was "raped" by Tsinghua?
Since then, Concord has joined the "2 1 1 and 985 Project", with funds allocated by Tsinghua, and two universities * * * use 2 1 1 and 985 project accounts.
Concorde and Tsinghua are a special kind of "cooperation", which is probably unique in China. In other words, eight-year clinical medical education is the "intersection" of the two. As for how far this cooperation can go, we can only wait and see.
Current Relationship: Tsinghua and Concord's strange strange bedfellows seem to be living far apart.
Appendix:
According to the agreement between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health in 2006, Peking Union Medical College was officially renamed as "Peking Union Medical College"; In view of the need of running a school in close cooperation with Tsinghua University, the name "Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Medical Department" is also used. The graduation certificates and degree certificates of clinical medical students and graduate students of Peking Union Medical College are stamped with the official seals of "Tsinghua University" and "Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Medical Center". The graduation certificates and degree certificates of non-clinical students and graduate students of Peking Union Medical College are stamped with the official seal of Peking Union Medical College. The graduation certificates and degree certificates of non-clinical students and graduate students of Tsinghua University Medical College are stamped with the official seal of "Tsinghua University".
The English name of Peking Union Medical College-Tsinghua University Health Science Center is "Peking Union Medical College, Tsinghua University", not "Peking Union Medical College of Tsinghua University". It is not "Tsinghua University Medical Department", but embodies the cooperative relationship between Peking Union Medical College and Tsinghua University Medical College as two entities.
