Yawning means you are breathing correctly.
All diseases originate from unaccepted emotions. Watching your breath is a good way to accept your emotions and a way to cultivate your mind and body. However, there are many online resources on how to practice watching your breath, and there are different opinions. Now, I would like to share some of my experiences in practicing mindfulness of breathing, hoping that it will be of benefit to friends who are interested. To practice observing the rhythm of breathing, it is recommended that you practice according to the 478 breathing method (see Baidu for specific methods). Note: 478 is just a rough rhythm, don’t get hung up on the exact number of seconds; when inhaling, visualize breathing all the way to your heels; when exhaling, try to induce yawning. After inducing yawning, continue yawning until tears come to your eyes! Tears can detoxify the liver. After I practiced yawning and crying for half a year, my tinnitus has basically disappeared. I now practice breathing techniques at noon, and I can quickly get rid of the fatigue at noon, and I no longer need to take a nap. In the inhalation stage of 4, touch the tongue to the upper palate; in the holding stage of 7, let the breath fill the whole body; in the exhalation stage of 8, touch the tongue to the lower palate and exhale in the same way as yawning. After yawning, and then continuing to yawn, more and more tears will flow out, and eventually they will flow out; while yawning, saliva will also be secreted, which is what Taoism calls nectar. Sometimes there will be a runny nose, which is a way to detoxify the lungs. Come on everyone, practice! In addition: in the inhalation phase of 4, you need to lift the anus! In this way, it is easier to feel the feeling of breathing into your heels; in the dispersing stage of 7 (the air spreads to the skin of the whole body, and the whole body is like a balloon), relax the anus; in the exhaling stage of 8, just yawn, and at the same time Feel the Qi coming out of the top of your head (Baihui). Yawning is controlled by the parasympathetic nerves, and breathing is also controlled by the parasympathetic nerves. We all have the experience that when we are very tired, we yawn, but we often ignore the important connection between tiredness and yawning. We usually use chest breathing, but observing breathing allows us to enter abdominal breathing. My experience is that abdominal breathing can make us more sensitive to physical fatigue. We can feel fatigue that cannot be felt by chest breathing, but can trigger yawning by abdominal breathing. In other words, physical fatigue is actually always there, but it is difficult for us to be aware of and feel it when breathing through the chest. When the body is tired, sleeping is rest; when the mind is tired, observing breathing is rest. The body and mind are connected to each other, and the bridge of connection is breath. Friends who have a lot of dreams, practice watching your breathing more often, and you will no longer have to worry about not sleeping well. Friends who are interested, go and give it a try right away. It is worth mentioning that once you can yawn anytime and anywhere, you can practice Zhanzhuang Gong; with the foundation of observing breathing, the Qi sensation of Zhanzhuang Gong will soon be appeared.
As long as you can yawn while observing your breathing, you are considered a beginner. Next, we have to practice more on our own. Talking about theory is like saying that you don't have enough food, it is meaningless. Watching the breath is like playing table tennis, the skills are endless. In the first stage (the initial stage), through more practice, you can yawn in one breath, and then you can enter the middle stage of practice. Middle section: Use the Zhanzhuang Gong posture with both arms. You can sit or stand. If you can feel the suction and push between the laboring points of your hands as you breathe, you are ready to get started. With more practice, you can feel the feeling of holding the ball. After you feel the feeling of holding the ball, you can start practicing at the advanced stage. In the advanced stage, people are swimming in Qi all the time.
In addition, a friend asked about the relationship between observing breathing and reciting the name of Buddha. You know, the key to reciting the Buddha's name is not chanting but chanting! Chanting sutras, chanting mantras or reciting Buddha's name is to observe breathing! Chanting is different from reading or chanting. Chanting: take a deep breath, and then finish reciting the mantra in one breath. You can try this four-character mantra: four-character mantra: OM (ong) A (a) Hum (hong) She (she). Reciting this mantra can open the seven rounds. When reciting the mantra, if it is inconvenient to make a sound, you can also not make a sound. The effect is the same as watching the breath and yawning. In other words, the purpose of chanting the mantra is also to induce yawning and tears. There is a saying that singing is also practicing qigong, which is the same truth.
