Why is it offensive to call an anesthesiologist an anesthesiologist?
The reason is that "anesthesiologist" is simply a wrong name. For example, friends upstairs think that "anesthesiologist" is the name of this profession, which is a typical explanation of the misunderstanding of anesthesiologists and anesthesiology by people who don't understand medicine.

It's simple. Anesthesiologists are clinicians, just like other doctors in internal medicine, surgery, pathology and imaging. To put it bluntly, an anesthesiologist can be a physician or a surgeon when he goes to internal medicine, because the basis and theory we learn in school are the same, and the qualification examination for doctors does not distinguish between anesthesia and clinic. The so-called "teacher" is used to address people who are engaged in technical work in hospitals. This is not to look down on technicians, but to become a clinician and a "technician" is not a concept at all. Of course, clinical technicians, such as imaging and inspection, also need to take the corresponding qualifications.

To put it bluntly, people are doctors, and you will definitely not be happy to call them technicians. Sometimes patients and their families really don't understand, so it doesn't matter, but this discrimination comes from the eyes of colleagues who are also doctors, which is disgusting.

This actually stems from China's misunderstanding of anesthesia for many years. For many people, anesthesia is just "an injection of anesthetic", and even many doctors don't understand anesthesia and despise it, so they have a deep-rooted contempt for anesthesiologists. In fact, anesthesia is a very complicated comprehensive clinical discipline. A good anesthesiologist should not only master the content of anesthesiology, but also know the knowledge of internal medicine, surgery, stomatology, plastic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, first aid and so on. This does not mean that anesthesiologists should be knowledgeable, but that this knowledge should be used in clinical work every day.
