Banding is a commonly used technique, which is used for artistic processing and shaping the style of bonsai. Branches can be bent and reset by winding wires. The branch will adapt to the new position in a few months, and then the line will be taken away.
Double-thread binding
1. First, select two branches to be coiled, with the same size and close positions. Remember that the wire must be wound around the trunk at least once, so that the wire will not turn when bending the branch in the future.
2. Before tying the tree, cut the metal wire with appropriate length. This wire will be used to tie the trunk and branches.
Tie the trunk with iron wire first, and then reach the first branch.
Tie the branch from the joint to the top before tying another branch. The wire must be tied to the branches at a 45-degree angle, so that the tree can grow stronger and keep its shape.
4. If you want to bend the branches directly to the trunk, make sure that the wires are from bottom to top (see figure 1 blue arrow). If you want to bend the branches up to the trunk, the wires should go from top to bottom (see the red arrow in figure 1).
5. After tying the branches in pairs, tie the remaining branches with monofilaments.
Monofilament binding method
1. Cut off the appropriate length of silk like the double-wire binding method, and wrap the silk around the branch at a 45-degree angle at first, at least twice.
2. When using multiple wires in the same part of the trunk or branch, try to arrange the wires in parallel (see Figure 2).
3. continue to tie the branches.
