Canthoplasty is the removal of the inner and outer canthus. It is generally used in eyes with small clefts and epicanthal folds. It is common to open the inner canthoplasty, which is also called canthoplasty. Medial canthoplasty can remove the redundant upper eyelid tissue through fine cosmetic surgical incisions. Canthoplasty will not leave obvious surgical scars. The method of medial canthectomy is used, that is, the canthus of the eye is opened. There are eight main types of canthoplasty surgery, each with its own advantages and disadvantages: 1. MUSTARDE canthoplasty surgery method: It consists of 1 V-Y advancement procedure and 2 Z-plasty procedures. Advantages: The most complete release. Disadvantages: complex operation and high technical requirements. The classic Mustarde method is relatively mechanical in design and causes heavy scars. 2. Advantages of Y-V advancement canthoplasty surgery: relatively simple and good release effect. Disadvantages: Takes a bit of skin off. 3. Advantages of V- or L-shaped canthoplasty surgery: simple, mostly used by beginners. Disadvantages: Excision of the skin may cause recurrence or aggravation of the disease. 4. One-step jump method: It is equivalent to V-Y advancement and L-shaped skin removal. It was invented by Korean doctors and is widely used in Korea. Advantages: relatively simple and good loosening effect. Disadvantages: Part of the skin needs to be removed, and the corners of the eyes are a little lower. 5. Improved MUSTARDE canthoplasty surgery method: After trying to compare various methods, experts believe that the Mustarde method is more thorough in release, and they have improved it to overcome some shortcomings such as heavy scars. Advantages: Complete and smooth release without excision of skin. Disadvantages: sophisticated and complex, high technical requirements. 6. Advantages of Z-plasty canthoplasty surgery: simple operation. Disadvantages: The release is not thorough enough and is suitable for mild epicanthic folds. 7. W canthoplasty surgery method: Many Japanese doctors like to use this method. Advantages: Simple. Disadvantages: A small amount of skin needs to be removed. 8. Advantages of transverse canthoplasty surgery: it is simple to operate and is used by many doctors. Disadvantages: The skin that is already insufficient needs to be removed, and the incision is neatly V-shaped. It is easy to shrink and relapse or even worsen.
