Many pregnant women may know that they need to undergo the New Territories examination, but in fact they don't know the significance of this examination. Then why do you need to do this? NT is an effective imaging method for early detection of fetal developmental abnormalities. By measuring the thickness of the transparent layer behind the fetal neck, the probability of fetal malformation can be judged. Generally speaking, the thicker the transparent layer behind the neck, the greater the possibility of fetal malformation. If the measured value is less than 2.5 mm, the fetus is developing normally. If the value exceeds 2.5 mm or even 3 mm, further inspection may be needed.
Can't you find all the deformities? Some pregnant women think that nt is omnipotent and can detect all abnormalities, but this is not the case. As we said before, the thicker the transparent layer at the back of the fetal neck, the higher the degree of abnormality. However, even if NT is normal, it cannot be said that there is nothing wrong with the fetus. If the NT value is abnormal, it needs to be further checked and confirmed. NT examination is only a sign of indirect diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, and it cannot detect all abnormalities.
Generally, pregnant women still have to do Tang screening after nt examination, so don't be lazy.
