In order to promote the early fruiting and high yield of young apple trees, on the basis of strengthening the comprehensive management of soil, fertilizer and water, the principle of "light pruning first, clear affiliation, combination of winter and summer, and full use of auxiliary branches" was adopted for plastic pruning.

First of all, moderate light cutting, that is, retaining a large number of branches and leaves except the backbone branches of the whole tree, slows down the growth of developing branches. The increase of medium and short fruit branches will advance the peak of vegetative growth of spring shoots, and accumulate carbohydrates early in that year, which is beneficial to flower bud differentiation. Secondly, according to the requirements of plastic surgery, the central trunk and main branches of each layer are selected, and they are appropriately truncated according to the growth and angle of each main branch. When cutting off the main branch, we should pay attention to the direction of cutting off the mouth bud and the second bud. Generally, the outer buds are cut to make them extend along the direction, and the second buds are selected to keep the lateral buds, so that the lateral branches are staggered on the main branches and have a solid tree skeleton. Third, on the basis of pruning in winter, methods such as pulling branches, girdling, pruning or twisting branches should be adopted as early as possible in summer to increase the chances of early flowering. At the same time, some upright shoots can be thinned when they are too dense. Where there is space, the growth direction can be changed by techniques such as circle, division, twisting and pulling, and then the method of first releasing and then cutting is adopted.
