Wang Dongxing died of illness at the age of 100 in 2015. On his deathbed: I have only done one thing in my life and I will die without regrets.

At 5:28 a.m. on August 21, 2015, Comrade Wang Dongxing passed away in Beijing, ending his century-long legendary life.

Comrade Wang Dongxing’s name appears with Chairman Mao most of the time. Chairman Mao also trusted him very much during his lifetime and allowed him to work by his side for 30 years. The chairman also spoke highly of Wang Dongxing, even comparing him to Zhou Bo of the Han Dynasty:

Wang Dongxing’s life is full of legend. He was originally a member of the Red Ten Army founded by Fang Zhimin. A soldier who participated in the Long March, the Anti-Japanese War, and the War of Liberation, he was later transferred to Chairman Mao's side as a guard. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of major general, and a few years later he even became the vice chairman of the Central Committee.

After experiencing such a legendary life, Wang Dongxing peacefully ushered in the last moment of his life in 2015. On his deathbed, he suddenly said an evaluation of himself: "My whole life You only do one thing and you will die without regrets."

So, what is this thing that Wang Dongxing is talking about?

Wang Dongxing was born in Yiyang County, Jiangxi Province in 1916. His family conditions were very difficult. Because of this, he participated in the peasant riots at the age of 13 and officially joined the party and the army two years later. After the fourth and fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" struggles, as well as the test of the Long March and the Anti-Japanese War, he has grown into an outstanding cadre. In 1945, he was selected as an alternate representative of the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

After the outbreak of the Liberation War, Chiang Kai-shek, who insisted on an all-out attack on the liberated areas, lost 700,000 troops in just one year. He had no choice but to adjust the combat plan, changing the all-out attack to a focused attack, and transferred Hu Zongnan to lead 250,000 troops. Ma invaded Yan'an.

At that time, there were only 20,000 people in Yan'an. Chairman Mao, who had a long-term vision, decided to evacuate Yan'an and move to northern Shaanxi with the central government. Under this circumstance, Wang Dongxing was transferred to his side by Chairman Mao to serve as a security guard.

There is a reason why Chairman Mao chose Wang Dongxing. He is not only courageous, but also considerate.

Before evacuating Yan'an, Wang Dongxing ran to Ye Zilong and asked him whether Chairman Mao and Vice Chairman Zhou would leave by car or on horseback. Ye Zilong replied: "They are going to leave by car. How is the safety on the road ahead?"

Wang Dongxing had already prepared for this, and replied without thinking: "If they are going by car, they need to send someone first People went to the airport to contact them, trenches were being dug there, and they had to be notified to leave a car passage.”

Many people did not think of this kind of detail at the time, but Wang Dongxing not only thought of it in advance, And also proposed specific arrangements. Precisely because Wang Dongxing was so meticulous, before the formal transfer, Zhou Enlai specifically asked him to inspect the central government's work to ensure that no important documents were left behind.

After leaving northern Shaanxi, the central government agencies turned left and right to Wangjiawan Village.

Wangjiawan is located on the west slope of a ravine. There is a small river at the bottom of the slope. There is a road leading to the outside world along the small river. There are usually many pedestrians coming and going.

At that time, Wang Dongxing was mainly responsible for the peripheral security work of the central government. He first led his soldiers to dig fortifications on the top of the mountain and monitored the surrounding situation of Wangjiawan day and night. He arranged fewer sentries during the day and asked them to hide. At night, the number of sentries is increased. I paid no attention to the pedestrians coming and going on the road, just let it go, managed to loosen the outside and tighten the inside, and finally completed the task successfully.

Contrary to Chiang Kai-shek who valued his own life more than anyone else and had a bunch of people guarding him on the battlefield, Chairman Mao only brought a small force with him and led Hu Zongnan's army in a circle. He said he was gambling with his own life.

However, even in such an environment, when the Central Committee was about to leave Wangjiawan in June 1947, Chairman Mao suddenly said that he wanted to stay "to see the enemy before leaving."

Upon hearing that Chairman Mao wanted to stay, Ren Bishi became anxious on the spot and said: "The Chairman must leave immediately!" Chairman Mao's temper also rose, saying that it would not be too late to leave after seeing the enemy.

The main reason why Chairman Mao insisted on staying was to seize the initiative and ensure that he could lead the enemy by the nose.

During the stalemate, Zhou Enlai thought of a good way to get the best of both worlds: "Chairman, how about we send a comrade to stay and look at it for you before leaving?"

Neither Ren Bishi nor Chairman Mao raised any objection to this proposal. Chairman Mao decided to hand over this task to Wang Dongxing. For this purpose, he left a reinforced platoon and five cavalrymen for him, specifically telling him not only to watch the enemy, but also to "beat them."

After Wang Dongxing received the mission, he immediately led a reinforced platoon of soldiers to set up an ambush on the top of Wangjiawan Mountain. Not long after, a regiment of Kuomintang soldiers arrived at the foot of the mountain.

At that time, there were only 30 people around Wang Dongxing. However, facing the enemy's force a hundred times larger, they showed no fear and repulsed two enemy attacks, creating a foundation for the evacuation of the central government and the efforts of the fellow villagers. The transfer bought enough time.

At this time, God seemed to be willing to help them. Suddenly there was a heavy rain, causing a flash flood. Wang Dongxing took the opportunity to lead his comrades to withdraw from the battle. No one died from the beginning to the end, and only one comrade was slightly injured. .

Wang Dongxing led the soldiers to retreat completely, which made Chairman Mao look at him with admiration:

After the Kuomintang soldiers of that regiment were defeated in Wangjiawan, they did not continue. They pursued each other one after another, but retreated towards Yan'an. If the "guests" want to leave, Chairman Mao cannot let them leave too easily. Three days after Wang Dongxing returned, Chairman Mao gave him a new task:

"You lead a company to pursue the enemy. You must adopt flexible guerrilla tactics. You must penetrate into the enemy's rear." , harassing them in Ansai and Yan'an areas, leaving them with no food and sleep."

Chairman Mao did this for several purposes. First, it can cause the reactionaries to retreat from our army. There are many people's misconceptions that make them confused about how many troops we still have to take him around. Secondly, it can also train the security forces to better protect the Party Central Committee. Thirdly, the troops can also do research between battles to understand the lives of the people.

Wang Dongxing left the mission as soon as he received it. The mission lasted for 34 days. The troops only fought one battle in Gaojiachuan, Yan'an County, and most of the remaining time was spent Helping local fellow villagers harvest wheat.

In the Battle of Gaojiachuan, Wang Dongxing commanded a company of troops to ambush an enemy battalion. Not only did he successfully eliminate a large number of enemy troops, he also seized the enemy's code book from a car and urgently sent people to deliver it. Returned to the front committee station.

When the mission was over, Wang Dongxing returned to Xiaohe Village to report his work to Chairman Mao. He felt a little ashamed. He felt that he had fought less. Chairman Mao praised his performance very much:

"This time you went deep into the enemy's rear, fought the battles that should be fought, and resolutely refused to fight the battles that shouldn't be fought. Don't think that if you fight too many battles, your mission will be over. It was not done well. You helped and protected the masses to harvest more than 800 loads of wheat this time, which is as important as the elimination of 800 enemies. The code book you sent back before also played a big role. "

Wang Dongxing perfectly executed the important tasks assigned to him by Chairman Mao twice in a row, which made Chairman Mao appreciate and trust him even more.

In the next more than a year, Wang Dongxing accompanied Chairman Mao from northern Shaanxi to Hebei, from Hebei to Peiping, and from Xiangshan Villa to Zhongnanhai. The security work along the way was very difficult. It was Wang Dongxing who was in charge.

After that, Wang Dongxing successively served as director of the Security Division of the General Office of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, director of the Security Bureau of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. No matter how high he was promoted or how much his responsibilities changed, one thing had never changed: he had always been responsible for the security tasks of the Zhongnanhai Central Agency and the protection of Chairman Mao.

Similarly, Wang Dongxing has never failed Chairman Mao's trust. Under his leadership, Zhongnanhai has never had a major safety accident, and there have been no major loopholes in the security work of the Party Central Committee.

In addition to the security work at Zhongnanhai, when Chairman Mao was preparing to visit the Soviet Union abroad in 1949, he also handed over security work to Wang Dongxing and gave him specific responsibility.

At that time, the Party Central Committee was convening a meeting of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Chairman Mao specially called Wang Dongxing and issued important instructions: "The social situation is very complicated now. My visit to the Soviet Union must be kept secret and I must not do anything." For any propaganda and security work along the way, you can go to Nie Rongzhen, Teng Daiyuan, Li Kenong, Luo Ruiqing and other comrades to discuss it."

"Send sufficient troops to take charge of all bridges, culverts, and tunnels along the route from Beijing to Manzhouli. For the security work at the commanding heights, Wang Dongxing was responsible for the organization of Chairman Mao’s special train and the security work around him. ”

Wang Dongxing has been with Chairman Mao for 30 years. These thirty years of getting along have made Chairman Mao and The relationship between Wang Dongxing and Wang Dongxing was so deep that Chairman Mao himself said: "I am used to Dongxing being by my side."

In August 1977, at the 11th National Congress of the Party In view of Wang Dongxing's many contributions since joining the revolution, he was successfully elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

However, Wang Dongxing was already over sixty years old at this time, and his physical energy was not as good as before. In addition, he felt that he could no longer keep up with the development and changes of the party and the country. The meeting held three years later At the Fifth Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Dongxing voluntarily resigned from relevant positions and became a civilian.

Faced with the ups and downs of life, Wang Dongxing is very open-minded and quickly adapts to the retirement life of "Drunken Wu Yin Xiangmei". After his retirement, he lived in seclusion and devoted himself to studying at home.

Although Wang Dongxing is unwilling to attend the event, there are always exceptions to everything. Wang Dongxing attaches great importance to the comrades who are engaged in compiling history and compilation. Wang Dongxing always responds to their requests every time they come for interviews.

For example, in the early 1980s, China set off a wave of compilation of local chronicles.

Comrades from the Party Committee of Yiyang, Wang Dongxing's hometown, specifically approached Wang Dongxing and proposed that he serve as a compilation consultant for "Yiyang County Chronicles". Wang Dongxing agreed at that time.

When ordinary celebrities hold similar jobs, they often just write a random inscription, write a preface, listen to the work report, clap their hands, and nod.

Wang Dongxing was really attentive. When others asked him about the details of relevant historical materials, he wrote down the written materials carefully and stroke by stroke, and the content was very detailed and complete. When text and picture manuscripts are sent, he will also put on his reading glasses to check and check them carefully.

Once, the comrades who compiled the "Yiyang County Chronicle" sent relevant materials reflecting the struggle in the Soviet area to Wang Dongxing and asked him to review it. Not long after, Wang Dongxing specifically asked his secretary to call. , said: "My (Wang Dongxing) hometown, Yujiawu, belongs to the fifth district of Yiyang. The Soviet regime was established in 1932. It should belong to the red area, but it is marked as a white area on the map."

< p> The map in the county annals uses a scale of 1:360000. The five districts of Yiyang are about the size of a soybean on the map. However, Wang Dongxing can spot even such a small flaw at a glance, which shows his rigor in treating historical issues. .

Although Chairman Mao has been dead for many years, Wang Dongxing's longing for Chairman Mao has never diminished, and he still respects him very much. Every year on the anniversary of Chairman Mao's birthday and death, he would go to the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall to lay flowers and pay homage to the great man's remains, regardless of wind or rain. He continued this habit until 2014.

In Wang Dongxing's home, there are still two calligraphy works given to him by Chairman Mao: "Qinyuanchun·Snow" and "Farewell" written by Wang Bo. Wang Dongxing's own book "Wang Dongxing's Diary" was specially arranged to be published in 1993 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chairman Mao's birth.

In August 2015, in the last stage of his life, Wang Dongxing once again took the initiative to mention Chairman Mao. He said, I have only done one thing in my life, and that is to follow Chairman Mao and defend him. This one thing alone makes me die without regrets.
