It is best to make freeze-dried specimens.
Steps: Open the abdomen, remove the internal organs, and fill the abdominal cavity with cotton balls soaked in formalin to prevent the abdomen from collapsing during the drying process;
Put the specimen into the refrigerator for quick freezing after reshaping For one week, in order to avoid odor transfer, it is best to store the specimens in a plastic sealed box;
Take out the freeze-dried specimens, dig out the eyeballs from the eye sockets, stuff the eyes with cotton, and inject alcohol or alcohol into the chest, skull, or abdominal cavity of the specimens. After formalin, continue to freeze for a week until the specimen is completely dry;
Feathers do not need special preservation, as long as they are sealed and stored, there will be no problem. If soaked in preservation, the appearance of the bird's feathers will be damaged!
Professional freeze-dried specimens require quick freezing and cascade vacuum dehumidification. It is difficult to meet such requirements at home. Quick freezing in a refrigerator and wrapping specimens in toilet paper to absorb moisture can also achieve better results.
Do not store freeze-dried specimens in a completely open space. Compared with other specimens, they are more likely to be infested by insects.
