Dermatofibroma is a benign dermal tumor caused by focal proliferation of fibroblasts or histiocytes. Therefore, it is also called histiocytoma, nodular subcutaneous fibrosis or sclerosing hemangioma. This disease can occur at any age, but it is more common among young people. There are more women than men. It can happen naturally or after trauma. Yellow-brown or red intradermal papules or nodules are the clinical features of this disease. Lesions grow slowly, exist for a long time, and rarely subside on their own.
