Detailed explanation of prosthetic rhinoplasty materials: which is better, swelling, silica gel or autologous cartilage?
When it comes to prosthetic rhinoplasty, many people actually can't tell the advantages and disadvantages of several prostheses. What are the advantages and disadvantages of several commonly used rhinoplasty prostheses? Which is more suitable for you?

At present, there are three kinds of materials that can be used for rhinoplasty: silicone prosthesis, swelling and autologous cartilage.

First, silicone prosthesis

Silicone prosthesis, certified by the US Food and Drug Administration, is harmless and safe to human body. During rhinoplasty, the doctor will use special equipment to shape the silica gel, so that the silica gel and the nasal bone can fit better and the shape is more three-dimensional.

Advantages: low price; Easy to carve and shape; In the later stage, a fiber envelope is formed around it, which can be completely taken out.

Disadvantages: not suitable for people with thin skin; The hardness of silicone prosthesis rhinoplasty material is too hard, which will cause some astringent feeling in the hand and may also cause the prosthesis to wear out of the body; Silicone prosthesis rhinoplasty material may appear light transmission and nose tip redness; Silicone prosthesis may have some allergic reactions to people with allergic constitution.

Maintenance time:

Domestic: generally maintained for about 10 years; Joint venture silica gel will remain for 20 years, and imported silica gel will remain permanent.

Second, swelling

No matter the texture or feel, the swelling is very close to the normal nasal tissue. Expansive materials have a special microporous structure, through which body tissues and blood vessels can penetrate to form tissue connections, which are as perfect as autologous tissues.

Advantages: keep the time permanent; Expansion is softer than silica gel and light in weight. There is no feeling of falling, the postoperative effect is more natural, and there will be no light transmission and redness of the nose tip. Good histocompatibility, human tissue cells and blood vessels can grow into this material, and the fixation effect is good.

Disadvantages: the swelling will grow with human tissues, and the swelling after implantation will not be completely removed; Sculpture is more difficult than silicone; The price is more expensive. As early as a few years ago, the US Food and Drug Administration banned the use of rhinoplasty, and most plastic surgeons in South Korea did not use rhinoplasty.

Third, autologous cartilage

Autologous cartilage, including auricular cartilage, nasal septum cartilage and costal cartilage, is mainly used for nasal tip plastic surgery, among which autologous auricular cartilage or nasal septum cartilage is widely used.

Advantages: self-organization, no rejection, no inflammation and infection. It is integrated with the local tissue of the nose, which is easy to fix and will not shift; Less absorption, low absorption rate of autologous cartilage, and survival without blood supply; The appearance is realistic, the touch is real, and there is no need to worry about normal contact with the nose after the operation.

Disadvantages: it is difficult to operate and takes a long time; Take out the cartilage, so there will be two wounds.

After reading the introduction of these three kinds of rhinoplasty prostheses, do you already have the answer in your heart?

In fact, with the development of rhinoplasty technology, most people now prefer comprehensive rhinoplasty. Because many people not only have a flat nose, but also have a nose facing the sky, a big nose and a wide nose wing. Simple prosthetic rhinoplasty is no longer enough, and it needs comprehensive transformation.

At present, comprehensive rhinoplasty has changed the idea of rhinoplasty with prosthesis, and rhinoplasty with autologous cartilage. If properly implemented, there will be no sequelae such as red nose, transparent reflection and nasal perforation in traditional rhinoplasty, which can be basically done once and for all.
