How to prune cherry blossoms
Pruning is very important in cherry blossom cultivation management. Pruning cherry blossoms should pay attention to the following aspects:

(1) Cherry trees are easily infected by germs after being injured, leading to gummosis or root cancer. Therefore, in cultivation management, be careful not to damage trees; When shaping and pruning, try to reduce big wounds; When thinning branches, the wound should be flat and small, and the pile should not be too high. Don't split the branches, and you can't form a cut (that is, a branch has cuts on both sides at the same point). (2) To master winter pruning, although it can be carried out during the whole dormant period of cherry blossoms, the later the better, and it is generally appropriate to prune near the bud stage. The reason is that the xylem of cherry blossoms has thick vessels and soft tissues. If the cuttings are pruned too early in dormancy or early spring, they will easily lose water and form dry piles, which will endanger the cuttings' buds or dry down for a period of time and affect the branch potential. However, when pruning is near the germination stage, the meristem is active and heals quickly, which can avoid incision shrinkage. (3) Pruning cherry trees with vigorous growth of verticillate branches often has 3-5 verticillate branches, so it is necessary to prune them in time and leave 1-2 robust branches according to the tree potential. If pruning is too late, it will not only cause nutrient consumption, but also enlarge the pruning wound, which is easy to cause gum flow, which is not good for cherry blossom growth. (4) Young trees should be lightly sheared, with strong growth potential and high branching ability at seedling stage. With the increase of age, from young tree to young tree, the upper branches of young tree spread out, forming a tree with approximate cone shape to round head shape, and its polarity and germination power are still strong, but its branching power is weakened. After short cutting, 3 ~ 5 branches can be produced under the incision, and the rest buds become short branches. Therefore, the pruning of young cherry trees should be done gently, and the combination of promotion and control should be achieved, so as to achieve the purpose of rapid crown expansion, relaxation of polarity and early flowering of short branches.
