The biggest killer of children's death is accidental injury, among which burns and scalds are most likely to occur. The treatment of burns and scalds is very long and expensive. At the same time, there is no professional institution to treat children's burns and scalds in China. In September, 2009, with the support of the Air Force General Hospital, Angel Mother set up the first rescue center for children burned by Angel Mother in the Air Force General Hospital, and officially launched the "Brand Angel" project. Subsequently, Shandong, Hunan, Zhengzhou and Chongqing established designated hospitals for burn and scald medical cooperation.
Aid recipients: children from poor families and orphans and disabled children aged 0- 14; In the rescue of children with burns and scalds, angel mother's rescue is limited to functional plastic surgery, and cosmetic plastic surgery is not included in the rescue (the definition of functional plastic surgery and cosmetic plastic surgery is subject to hospital evaluation).
2. New Liver Baby Project
Medical statistics show that infants can survive for a long time after living donor liver transplantation and grow and develop like normal children. Infant liver transplantation is a new technology in the field of organ transplantation in China in recent years. Its main indications are: cholestasis in children, including congenital biliary atresia and intrahepatic cholestasis; Other indications include acute liver failure and metabolic liver disease in infants.
Biliary atresia (BA) is a common malformation in pediatric surgery, characterized by biliary atresia and obstructive jaundice inside and outside the liver, with an incidence of1/5000-118000. This disease is mostly caused by hepatobiliary development disorder in embryonic stage, but it is difficult to diagnose before delivery. Gexi operation is the first-line treatment for this disease, but 70% of BA children who successfully applied Gexi operation eventually developed cirrhosis and needed liver transplantation.
The development of medical technology gives children hope of survival, but financial difficulties and the huge cost of liver transplantation are another difficult problem faced by these children and their families.
On October 28th, 2065438+0165438+/KLOC-0, Angel Mother launched the treatment plan of New Liver Baby, which was specially used to treat children who needed liver transplantation and Gexi operation due to biliary atresia.
Aid recipients: 0- 14-year-old poor children and orphans and disabled children who need liver transplantation; Children with biliary atresia and cholestasis who need liver transplantation.
3. Limited Angel Project
Thalassemia, also known as marine anemia, is a group of hereditary diseases. Its pathogenesis is that the decrease or deletion of synthetic hemoglobin globin chain leads to abnormal hemoglobin structure. Red blood cells containing abnormal hemoglobin have reduced deformability and shortened life span, which can be destroyed by human liver and spleen in advance, leading to anemia and even abnormal development. This disease is also called hemolytic anemia in medicine.
Because parents carry the gene of mild anemia, one quarter of the children born are patients with severe thalassemia, and patients with severe thalassemia must maintain their lives through blood transfusion and iron excretion for life. With the growth of children's age, the time of blood transfusion will become shorter and shorter and more frequent, from the initial 30 to 40 days to 10 to more than 20 days. Due to the cumulative increase in the number of blood transfusions, iron deposited in the heart and organs will be loaded, and iron excretion treatment must be carried out. It takes 8- 12 hours a day to take the iron-discharging needle five days a week. These patients are suffering from severe physical torture. Another way to discharge iron is to take Enrique orally, at least several thousand yuan per month.
These children struggling on the poverty line, accompanied by their parents, wander around, begging for blood has become a long way to continue their lives. Serious blood shortage threatens their lives at any time, and trying to get rid of poverty has become the dream pursued by these poor parents all their lives. Bone marrow or cord blood transplantation can help thalassemia children get rid of the fate of blood transfusion and iron excretion, but the cost of transplantation is generally at least 200 thousand. The high cost of transplantation discouraged parents, and 95% of patients were in trouble because they had no money for treatment.
On 20121216, the angel mother started the "limited angel" project, mainly helping children with various rare diseases such as thalassemia, Budd-Chiari syndrome, Gaucher's disease and muscular atrophy. At the end of 20 14, Angel Mother initiated the establishment of China Care for Children with Thalassemia, and planned to carry out a series of work in the prevention and treatment of thalassemia, care for children and popularization of medical technical standards. On 20 15, Li Xiaolin, member of CPPCC, vice chairman and secretary general of China Siyuan Project Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, submitted the Proposal on Strengthening the Prevention and Treatment of Thalassemia in China, which was positively responded by Ding Jie, member of CPPCC, vice president of Peking University First Hospital and professor of pediatrics.
Aid target: 0- 14-year-old thalassemia children from poor families; Mainly bone marrow or cord blood transplantation.
4.2 1885 project
Angel Mother opened the emergency hotline 40006-2 1885 for poor children (Auntie helped me) to solve the accidental injuries and major diseases of children aged 0- 14 in poor families. Through online publicity and fundraising, we will integrate domestic and foreign medical institutions, media, enterprises and other resources to raise medical funds, arrange surgery and rehabilitation assistance for seriously ill children from poor families, and help them avoid death and disability. The project involves many diseases, including accidental injury, scoliosis, hypospadias and meningocele.
Aid recipients: poor children aged 0- 14 and orphans and disabled children; A seriously ill child, the postoperative effect is very good.
5. Factual Orphans Project
It is always sad to have such a group of children at an innocent and carefree age. They have families, but no one is raising them because of their parents' severe disability, imprisonment, serious illness and running away from home. They are "factual orphans", and the number is increasing, but few people pay attention to them. On the one hand, these children have to endure the hardships of basic food and clothing, on the other hand, they have to bear the internal and external mental and emotional pressures accompanied by loneliness and poverty. Due to the lack of relevant rescue policies and regulations, it is difficult for them to get corresponding care and support, and there is no way to enter welfare homes, foster care is difficult, and they can't enjoy assistance. In some ways, their situation is even worse than that of orphans.
On August 20 15, the project of "Seeking Happy Fact Orphans" was launched, and in September, the first angel mother fact orphan rescue cooperation base was established. Mainly to help focus on raising factual orphans and scattered factual orphans and provide them with basic means of subsistence. Among them, special treatment and psychological counseling will be given to children with physical and mental diseases to promote their physical and mental health development; Furthermore, provide children of all ages with educational opportunities, learn cultural knowledge and cultivate good hobbies, so as to lay a good foundation for these children to enter the society smoothly in the future.
Aid target: the fact orphans who are extremely poor all over the country.
