But this grand occasion did not last long, and fewer and fewer people became monks. As the temple occupies the land where crops are grown, it has become a big problem to supply food locally. It is a hard job to send young and strong young monks to the towns at the foot of the mountain every day to transport grain for dozens of miles. Especially in dog days, the sun is burning overhead, and it is extremely hot. For three or nine days, it was windy and snowy, and the air conditioner was biting.
Many monks couldn't stand the pain and ran away secretly. Some are secularized, while others go to other temples. Those temples located on high mountains left fewer monks.
This incident made the abbot very upset. He posted everywhere to recruit a group of monks to go up the mountain, but few people signed up. I heard that the mountain is high and the road is dangerous, and there is a lack of food. Everyone backed out.
Master Lu Ban, who was in charge of the Baoding Mountain construction project at that time, was also worried after learning about this situation. Lu Ban is not only skilled, but also has a bodhisattva heart.
One day, he said to the abbot, "I'll solve the food problem." I promise to supply the temple with daily rations to meet the needs of monks and Buddhist monks. For a period of three years. During this period, the monks in the temple should learn to farm and be self-sufficient after three years. "
The abbot was very happy and promised, "I wonder how the master provides food?"
Lu Ban said: "I built a large stone warehouse with a height of 10 foot, a width of 10 foot and a height of 2 feet at the south rock of the Buddha bend in Baoding Mountain overnight, just on the side of the bust Buddha. There is a small hole in this barn. Every day before dawn, rice flows out of this small hole, as much as it is eaten every day. The rice will start to flow out tomorrow morning. Just send someone to transport the rice. "
The abbot told all the monks about Lubancang, and everyone cheered. This story has spread widely, and monks from all directions have returned to Baoding Mountain. The incense in Baoding Mountain Temple is booming again.
From then on, every night, a big monk in charge of rice, with several young monks, cooked by the fire, lined up a big basket of 10, and put it in front of the small hole in Lubancang to pick up rice. At a certain time, stop the outflow of rice. Carrying it back to the whole temple is just enough for one day, not much, not little.
Unconsciously, I lived without food for three months. But the little monk who was picking rice in the kitchen was a little impatient. They said that if you give more rice at a time, you will be busy for a while, and it will be easier to take care of it for a few days at a time. It will be too restrictive to pick up food at midnight every day, so they told the big monk who is in charge of rice.
Hearing this, the big monk gave birth to another idea. He thought that if the hole was opened wider and the flow was larger, more rice could be left in one night, and the rest could be saved and exchanged for cash in the market. The more he thought about it, the happier he became.
I thought about it, and immediately brought a few strong young monks, sledgehammers and chisels, to Lubancang. The small hole where the rice flowed was cut into a big hole.
Late that night, the big monk sent twice as many young monks as usual, taking dozens of big baskets to Lubancang to pick up rice, but at dawn, not a grain of rice flowed out.
They panicked, so they climbed the bamboo ladder and climbed into the barn to touch it. No rice, only gravel! They quickly told Lu Ban about it and asked him to think of another way.
Lu Ban sighed deeply and said, "I opened this rice barn for a wish. There was a rich man who had a lot of money and food. But I have no children, and I want to do good deeds. I hope God can give them a son. "
"I this stone warehouse channel is directly connected with the rich man's big granary. After careful calculation, I left this small hole. After such a long flow of water for three years, the merits will naturally be complete, and the temple will also have a foundation for land reclamation. Now it has become such a result, which I did not expect. I can't do anything now. It seems that this is providence! "
The monks learned that Lubancang could no longer scatter rice, so one today and one tomorrow left the temple one after another. The fragrance of Baoding Mountain gradually dimmed. Finally, there is only one Shengshou Temple left.
This is really: Lu Ban worships Buddha to build rice warehouses, and greedy monks are ridiculous. It's too late to regret making a big mistake. Leave it to the present and think slowly.
