The Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiaotong University is a comprehensive teaching hospital with complete categories of internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and pediatrics, featuring stomatology, plastic surgery and orthopedics. In recent years, we have made gratifying achievements in medicine, teaching, research and management with the hospital spirit of "perfecting medical skills, earnestly practicing medical ethics, recruiting talents and building nine hospitals together" and the development strategy of "invigorating hospitals through science and education and strengthening hospitals through talents". There are 3 academicians of China Academy of Engineering, who have successively won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress in oral and maxillofacial surgery, namely, the morphological and functional reconstruction of defects after radical resection of oral and maxillofacial tumors, and the clinical treatment of hemangioma and vascular malformation in oral and maxillofacial regions. Stomatology ranked second in the discipline ranking of the Ministry of Education in 2007, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics and orthopedics were the national key clinical specialties of the Ministry of Health. It has been rated as a civilized unit in Shanghai for ten years in a row and won the honorary title of "National Advanced Collective for Cultural Construction of Urban Hospitals".

The area and scale of the Ninth Hospital are not dominant in Shanghai's large general hospitals, but they have outstanding characteristics and obvious advantages, attracting a large number of patients from all over the country every day, especially oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery. Ophthalmology, anesthesiology, urology and endocrinology are the key disciplines of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. It is also a unit of vascular disease diagnosis and treatment center and hernia and abdominal wall surgery disease diagnosis and treatment center of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.
