Max was one of the first pilots recruited from Macross, and was assigned to Captain Rick Hunt as a recruit to become a member of Birmingham team. He performed well in the first battle with zentraedi and was considered as the best pilot in SDF- 1. His flying skills on the Veritak fighter are flawless, and he is very skilled in the fields of electronics and machinery. The combat effectiveness of his Veritech fighter has reached its peak. He often makes some "special" adjustments to make his Veritech fighter more versatile and flexible. Max was allowed to rebuild his VF- 1J fighter. All these privileges earned his soldiers the title of "Max". He is not only excellent, but also modest, intelligent and eloquent. He is a very lovely young man.
