Which is the sphenoid bone?
The sphenoid bone is shaped like a butterfly, located between the frontal bone and ethmoid bone in front and between the temporal bone and occipital bone in the back. It extends transversely to the skull base and is divided into four parts: body, winglet, wing and pterygoid process.

The center of the sphenoid bone is called sella turcica, and the pituitary gland is located in the center of the brain base. In the sella turcica in the sphenoid bone, there is an optic nerve passing above it, surrounded by cavernous sinus on both sides, and the sphenoid sinus and nasopharynx at its bottom.

Extended data

Due to the general reasons of childbirth and pregnancy, the large and small wings of sphenoid bone are easy to move inward or up and down excessively or get stuck by compression, which further oppresses the sella turcica movement promoted by cerebrospinal fluid. Because the sphenoid bone is connected with most of the skull, it is easy to limit the movement of the whole skull.

The pituitary gland is in the sella turcica, which may lead to insufficient secretion, thus affecting growth. Therefore, it is more meaningful to sense the baby's sphenoid bone movement through finger induction and adjust the movement direction synchronously with it.
