Star fern in Jiangnan, Polypodiaceae, Dryopteris.
It belongs to Polypodiaceae and Pteris.

Scientific name: Wang Lixin Agaricus bisporus;

Red crabgrass;

Alias: Pteris forest, Pteris macrophylla.

Epiphyte, plant height 30- 100 cm. Rhizomes are long and transverse, with scales at the top; Scales are brown, oval, triangular, pointed at the top, round at the base, sparse teeth, dense sieve holes, shield-shaped and easy to fall off.

Leaves far, 1.5 cm apart; The petiole is 5-20 cm long, straw-colored, with shallow grooves on it, sparse scales at the base, and nearly smooth upward.

The leaf blade is linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, 25-60 cm long and 1.5-7 cm wide. The tip is long and tapering, the base is tapering, and it extends down to the petiole, forming narrow wings and cartilaginous edges. The middle vein is obviously raised on both sides, the lateral vein is not obvious, the venules are reticulate and slightly visible, and the saphenous venules are bifurcated.

The leaves are as thick as paper, with light green or grayish green underneath and no hair on both sides. When I was young, there were occasional scales on both sides of the lower midvein.

Sporocysts are large and round, arranged neatly along both sides of the midvein, sometimes in two irregular rows, close to the midvein. Spores are bean-shaped with irregular folds on the outer wall.

It is produced in the Yangtze River basin and its southern provinces, and reaches Shaanxi and Gansu in the north. Most of them grow on rocks or on tree trunks by streams under forests. 300- 1800 meters above sea level. Malaysia, Bhutan, Myanmar and Vietnam are also distributed.

The whole herb has the functions of clearing away heat and toxic materials, promoting diuresis and eliminating dampness, dispelling wind and removing dampness, cooling blood and stopping bleeding, and relieving swelling and pain.

The leaf size of this species varies greatly. For example, some plants from Tibet have leaves as long as 100 cm, petioles as long as 20 cm and leaves in the middle as wide as 7 cm.
