In 2009, the team led by Chen Gang published the paper "Energy Transfer between Nano-scales Mediated by Surface Phonon Polaritons" in Nano Express, and it was proved through experiments that the thermal radiation transmittance of close objects could be as high as 1000 times as predicted by the law, which broke the prediction of the law of blackbody radiation founded by German physicist Planck in 1900.
